Founded in 1978 as Louaize College for Higher Education in cooperation with Beirut University College, Notre Dame University Louaize (NDU) received university status and its current name in 1987.
Based in Louaize, Lebanon, NDU is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education, and adopts the American system of higher education. Its main campus is located in Zouk Mosbeh, a coastal area 15 km north of Beirut, with two other campuses in Lebanon.
NDU offers 76 major fields of study divided between undergraduate and graduate degree programmes. The faculties are: architecture, arts and design, business, humanities, engineering, natural and applied sciences, nursing and health sciences, law and political science and continuing education.
On campus, students will find everything they need including a dormitory complex which consists of two segregated wings, female and male, which can accommodate more than 400 students.
For students with an interest in sport, they can join the following teams: Basketball, streetball, rugby, mini football, volleyball, tennis, table tennis, badminton, chess, swimming and taekwondo. There’s also a gymnasium, which offers a vast array of classes.
The university has launched a number of environmental initiatives since 2013 across its three campuses to ensure that it remains as sustainable as possible. It strives to meet sustainability goals in waste management, water conservation, carbon footprint reduction and ecosystem preservation.
NDU has established relationships with universities around the world, carrying out various exchange activities such as academic exchanges, scientific research cooperation and the opportunity for students to study abroad. The university welcomes students to its campus too.
