Nihon University (Nichidai) is a private research university in Japan. Originally founded by Yamada Akiyoshi as the Nihon Law School in 1889, it is the largest university in Japan with over 70,000 students in attendance.

The university is made up of 16 colleges and 87 departments, 20 postgraduate schools, one junior college which is composed of five departments, one correspondence division, 32 research institutes and three hospitals.

Faculties include law, economics, commerce, art and science and technology among others.

The main campuses are located in the Kantō region, in Tokyo and the surrounding areas. There are two more campuses in Shizuoka Prefecture and Fukushima Prefecture.

In 2016, the university acquired the former Newcastle Court House in New South Wales Australia which became its first international campus.
