The National University of San Martín (Universidad Nacional de San Martín or UNSAM) was set up in 1992 and officially began giving classes in 1994. This Argentine public national university is mostly located in the city of San Martín, a province of Buenos Aires. Its main site is Campus Miguelere, which is 8.5 hectares in area.

It also has five institutes: the Institute of Technology, the Institute of Biotechnological Research, the National Institute of Industrial Quality, the Institute of Rehabilitation and Movement Sciences and the Institute of High Studies.

San Martín is the administrative seat of General San Martín Partido and is a heavily urbanised area, home to numerous food processing industries, as well as to a large Peugeot-Citroën auto factory.
