The National Textile University (NTU) is a public university in Faisalabad, Punjab, Pakistan. It is known for providing the premier textile education in the country.
The university holds various accreditations, including recognition from the Pakistan Engineering Council, National Technology Council, Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and National Business Education Accreditation Council.
The university's history dates back to 1959, when it was established as the Institute of Textile Technology in Faisalabad, with the support of the Government of Punjab and contributions from leading textile industrialists. Over the years, the institution underwent several name changes and received significant assistance from the Japanese government, which enabled it to upgrade its facilities. In 2002, it was officially renamed as the National Textile University.
NTU offers degree programmes in various disciplines, including textile engineering, polymer engineering, computer science, fashion design and business administration. The university also maintains close ties with the textile industry of Pakistan.
Faculties include the school of engineering and technology, school of art and design, school of sciences, and Faisalabad business school. The university also hosts departmental societies, such as the society of textile spinners and the society of textile chemists.
