About CRSA:
The Center for Remote Sensing Applications (CRSA) is an interdisciplinary research center within UM6P that spans multiple academic programs. CRSA focuses on addressing food and water security challenges in Africa, with a particular emphasis on the use of multi-source remotely sensed data. The center’s research aims to improve the understanding of surface processes and their interactions with climate and human activities, with an emphasis on the sustainable management of natural resources (soil, land, water, and agriculture) in the context of climate change. One of CRSA’s primary objectives is to provide decision- support tools and services to local, national, and international users in water and food systems.

Job Description:
Over the past few years, advances in computational power and the increasing availability of large volumes of remote sensing data with finer spatial and temporal resolutions have significantly transformed the way we approach climate and weather forecasting. These technological advancements have paved the way for innovations, such as the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into real-time data analysis. This integration can revolutionize the interpretation of remote sensing data, allowing for rapid decision-making in critical situations, such as during natural disasters. AI models can process big datasets efficiently, helping to make informed, unbiased decisions, and ensuring resources are distributed to those most in need. Additionally, when combined with modeling experiments or enhanced research in parameterization, AI is accelerating computational processes, improving prediction accuracy, and enabling the creation of extensive model ensembles at a reduced cost.


In this context, we are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team at the CRSA to develop AI models, specifically deep learning approaches, to analyze and predict key climate variables such as precipitation and temperature which are essential for forecasting extreme events. These models will be applied to Morocco’s arid and semi-arid regions, aiming to produce more accurate predictions of droughts and floods. These enhanced climate and weather predictions will contribute to safeguarding food production, ensuring proactive water management strategies, and reducing the health risks associated with extreme weather conditions, particularly in rural areas heavily reliant on agriculture.
 
Key Duties
•    Improve the accuracy of predicting climate variables like precipitation, temperature, and soil moisture by leveraging large multi-source datasets from remote sensing, IoT sensors, and climate models.
•    Design and implement deep learning models for forecasting extreme weather events such as floods, droughts, and heatwaves, integrating probabilistic approaches to account for uncertainties.
•    Use data assimilation techniques to combine observational data with AI models, improving real time forecasting accuracy.
•    Collaborate with hydrologists, climatologists, and data scientists to ensure models are well grounded in scientific understanding.
•    Design and conduct fieldwork to validate model predictions and improve the performance of deep learning approaches.
•    Publish research findings in high-impact scientific journals and present the results at international conferences.
•    Contribute to the supervision of Master’s and Ph.D students.
Qualifications
•    Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Climate Science, Geoinformatics, Applied and Computational Mathematics, or related fields.
•    Proven experience in developing deep learning models (e.g., CNNs, RNNs, LSTMs) for large-scale environmental data analysis.
•    Familiarity with theoretical and practical aspects of scientific deep learning;
•    Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R.
•    Strong experience working with climate and remote sensing datasets for environmental applications.
•    Experience with high-performance computing and analysis of large datasets;
•    A good track record of published research in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
•    Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team and communicate scientific results effectively.

	Academic and/or industrial experience in design and managing digital supply chain solutioning and supply chain management.
	Having a background and interest in one or more fields of digital supply chain, including but not limited to digital supply chain transformation, digital manufacturing, E-procurement, E-commerce, E-logistics.
	Experience and knowledgeable in one or more areas of supply chain operations management, risk management and operations research, such as demand forecasting, inventory control, procurement, manufacturing, distribution, warehouse and transportation simulation, optimization and management.
	Motivated to develop and to teach curriculum in supply chain sustainability.
	Strong demonstration of interest to develop supply chain security, supply chain digital twin, and artificial intelligence solutions through applied research projects.


Desirable


	Good knowledge in digital supply chain-related technologies such as AI, LLMs, Cyber Security, IoT, 3D printing, automation, supply chain security, digital twins, and block chains.
	Hands on experience in commercial digital supply chain solutioning projects with both hardware and software elements.
	Experience in digital supply chain related projects with strong integration of the three pillars, i.e., Digitalization, Resilience and Agility, and Green Supply Chain.
	Preferred to having a PhD in a related technical area.
	Led or involved in strong industry - academia partnership projects.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Global University Engagement: S/he will be at the forefront of developing and nurturing relationships with universities worldwide. S/he will develop strategies to engage our alumni in meaningful ways, including creating opportunities for alumni to contribute to our university; S/he will also coordinate efforts to keep alumni informed about the university's achievements and initiatives;  

4. International Student Recruitment: S/he will play a crucial role in attracting and recruiting international students to our university. This involves developing and implementing strategies to effectively reach out to prospective students across different regions.  

S/he reports to the Provost and other members of the senior management team to ensure alignment and integration of global engagement initiatives with the university's overall strategic plan.

Job Requirement

1. Education: The successful candidate must hold a PhD awarded by a globally recognized university, currently holds a senior academic position (at least at full professor level) in his/her institution;

2. Experience: Extensive track record in higher education, international affairs, or a related field, with a demonstrated track record of success in developing strategic partnerships and initiatives; Candidates with administration and management experience in international universities or familiar with the education systems in both Hong Kong and Chinese Mainland would be an advantage;

3. Skills: S/he must have a high level of communicative competence in English, while a strong ability in Chinese (Putonghua and/or Cantonese) is preferred; Exceptional communication and negotiation skills are required;

4. Knowledge: A deep understanding of the global higher education landscape is required. This includes familiarity with international academic standards, practices, and trends;

5. Personal Traits: A passion for international collaboration and a commitment to higher education are essential. The candidate must be adaptable, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Cultural sensitivity and a global mindset are also crucial.

THE ROLE
Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (RBC), part of Birmingham City University, wishes to recruit a Senior Lecturer Head of Singing. The post holder will be an active member of the academic management team and will teach and co-ordinate singing classes across all courses.
RBC is seeking an individual who has expertise in the teaching of singing to actors, rooted in Estill Voice Craft. The full-time post will be key to the development of contemporary music theatre in the RBC Acting curriculum. As we review our overall provision, this is an exciting time to be part of the team involved in these potential new course developments.

You will be responsible for the sourcing and management of a range of Visiting Tutors of Singing and accompanists.

The capacity to work as an accompanist and an MD would be an advantage. 

While this is primarily a teaching post, opportunities to develop a research profile are available.
