Requirements


	A Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Sciences, Epidemiology, Biostatistics or related disciplines, preferably with at least 1 year of post-qualification experience

	Strong Biomedical Science and quantitative background
	Demonstrated abstract concepts in an accessible way to all organizational levels
	Good communication and data visualization skills
	Self-motivated, scientifically mature, attentive to details
	Ability to acquire new biostatistical techniques by self-learning
	Able to work independently and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
	Proficiency in Mendelian Randomization research is highly preferred
	Laboratory skills, track records of publications and grants would be advantageous

Our group studies the intersection between social and environmental factors, brain development, and adolescent mental health and cognitive function with the ultimate aim of promoting equitable outcomes in young people. We are based at the IoPPN, King’s College London, a world-leading institute well-known for its close-knit community, collaborative atmosphere, and outstanding research support.

About the role:

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with expertise in statistics (preferably longitudinal modelling) and an interest in developmental cognitive neuroscience or psychology to join the research team led by Dr Divyangana Rakesh. The lab is seeking someone who is passionate about developmental cognitive neuroscience and enjoys analysing data and solving statistical problems to support a project funded by the MRC. The postdoctoral researcher will lead a research program focused on studying links between socioeconomic disadvantage, brain development, and cognitive and academic outcomes using big, openly available datasets, under the supervision of Dr Rakesh.

This role will provide you with the freedom to develop new and creative ideas, methodologies, and/or approaches to challenging and societally important questions. In addition to leading the project, you will be supported in finding a research area that interests you, encouraged to develop a research programme of your own, and apply for independent funding. The postdoctoral researcher will also have teaching opportunities if this is of interest.

This role will involve:


	Implementing statistical methods to test pre-specified hypotheses on longitudinal development and outcomes.
	Selecting and implementing further analyses as appropriate
	There will be an opportunity to suggest further research questions and implement appropriate analyses
	Writing manuscripts in order to disseminate research findings.
	Problem solving and assisting Dr Rakesh investigate new research strategies and ideas.
	Present summaries of study updates at internal meetings and meetings with external collaborators, and at national and international conferences.
	Mentoring undergraduate and masters students
	Work as a conscientious and committed member of the team in order to achieve the aims of the project. 
	Managing and organising own workload. It is the postdoc’s responsibility to make sure that deadlines are met and the necessary resources are available for the job at hand.
	Other relevant activities as directed by the line manager.


This is a full-time post, 35 Hours per week, and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 30th June 2028.

About you:

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

1. PhD in developmental cognitive neuroscience, psychology, psychiatry, or a related field.

2. Strong track record of high-quality publications.

3. Demonstrable (e.g., by publication record) experience in using programming and quantitative statistics (primarily in R).

4. Experience or interest in developmental cognitive neuroscience, psychology, or neuroimaging.

5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrable through publications, media output, and conference presentations.

6. Excellent time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks at once (e.g., conducting analyses for one project while writing a different manuscript).

7. Ability to work independently as well as within a team.

Desirable criteria

1. Experience supervising undergraduate or masters student projects.

2. Background in developmental cognitive neuroscience and/or the study of environmental determinants of child brain and behaviour development.

3. Experience with MATLAB, Python or similar modelling platforms

4. Experience with longitudinal modelling (latent growth analyses, linear mixed effects models, generalized additive mixed models).

5. Experience using big datasets such as ABCD, Millenium Cohort Study.

About the position:

Position of research laboratory technician is open for the group „Microenvironment of Immune Cells“ that is part of Molecular Medicine program at CEITEC-Masaryk university (MU).

We study the molecular pathways that regulate microenvironmental interactions in normal and malignant immune cells. The microenvironment of immune niches plays an important role in the onset, progression, and resistance of hematological malignancies. We largely focus on the role of non-coding RNAs (microRNAs [miRNAs] and long-noncoding RNAs [lncRNA]) in these pathways. The deregulation of non-coding RNAs can lead to aberrant regulation of pathways that are canonically associated with cancer biology like apoptosis, proliferation and differentiation. However, the role of non-coding RNAs in the microenvironmental interactions of normal and malignant cells is largely unknown. We are seeking researchers who are passionate about Data Science, with an emphasis in Computational Social Science. Some of the possible research topics include: (i) network science, (ii) social media analysis, (iii) collaboration and teamwork, (iv) gender inequality, (v) diversity, (vi) online controlled experiments. 

The ideal candidate is self-motivated and hard-working with a PhD in Data Science, Computational Social Science, Computer Science, or Information Science. The position requires experience with at least one of the following: Data Science, Machine Learning, Computational Social Science, Big Data. Relevant skills could include statistical analysis, data management and collection, causal inference, network analysis, graph theory, visualizations, and online tool development. Experience in conducting online controlled experiments is also desired, but not required. Excellent communication skills in English, ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, and scientific creativity are essential.

Selected candidates will spend half their time on collaborative research with Bedoor AlShebli, an Assistant Professor in Computational Social Science in the Social Science Division at NYUAD and half their time on independent or collaborative research projects. The selected candidate will receive an appointment for two years with the possibility of a third year extension. The position provides salary higher than internationally competitive rates for Post-Doctoral / Research Engineering / Research Associate positions, in addition to substantial benefits (generous housing, transportation and travel allowances, educational subsidies for children), together with full health insurance and retirement contributions. The UAE does not levy income tax.

The position does not require teaching, but it may be possible to get teaching experience for compensation.
