With a large focus on research, National Chi Nan University was founded in 1995 with the ambition to preserve culture and history. It is located in the Pui Township, Nantou County, Taiwan.
The university has four colleges, two educational centres and eight research centres.
The campus is full of greenery and as a result, the university aims to lead the the way in sustainability by lowering their carbon emissions and supporting the local community to do the same. The institution is committed to delivering the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals.These ties with the local community have expanded into educational programmes to support local tourism and cultural work.
The university offers courses that are focused on community outreach and global impact. Focusing on humanities, science and technology, management and education, students are able to study a wide range of topics.
Students are able to take advantage of the surroundings and can go rowing on Taiwan’s famed Sun Moon Lake. Other sports such as archery, softball, golfing and ballroom dancing are also available. There is a softball field, a track field, a swimming pool and a fitness centre, There are 66 student clubs and sports teams in total.
On campus you have many food options. There is also a 24-hour convenience shop is there to offer food, drinks, washing sets and other essentials.
Outreach centres have also been set up to care for disadvantaged children and indigenous people.
Chung Pei-chun, an established politician, is a notable alumni from the institution. Her work on empowering other woman and promoting rights within Taiwan made a significant difference.
