Modern University for Business & Science was founded in 2000 as the Middle East Canadian Academy of Technology. In 2007 the university’s name changed to what it is today, to reflect its new mission, status and vision.
The university has five campuses in the city of Beirut: Damour, Beirut, Aley, Semkanieh, and Rachaya. It also has the Jal-el-Dib Community Centre, which is where the university works with the local community to find solutions for social problems.
The university is organised into three schools: computer science and graphic design, education and social work, and health sciences. Each school has a number of departments, which offer a range of undergraduate courses. There is also the International Business School, which offers courses in both English and French.
Outside of the classroom, students are encouraged to participate in extra-curricular activities. The university’s sports department has a number of clubs available for students to join including basketball, table tennis, Muay-Thai, kickboxing, and volleyball. Throughout the year these clubs represent the university at national and international competitions, often with success.
The university is located in Beirut, Lebanon’s capital and largest city. Beirut sits along the Mediterranean coast making it the country’s main port. Having a history that spans across more than 5,000 years, Beirut is one of the oldest cities in the world.
