About the Roles

The Project Managers will facilitate and have oversight of DICE initiatives that directly contribute towards achieving the University’s strategic objectives. They will work in a small team but will engage with a broad group of stakeholders, including vendors and external partners as required. 

Initiatives for which Project Managers are sought are: Next Generation Core Digital Infrastructure and Network Modernisation Program. 

Key Duties:  


	Facilitate initiatives from inception through to completion by applying the relevant project management methodology, considering the operational context and the ITS Agile delivery approach 
	Provide leadership and management to create an engaged and cohesive team that operates according to the ITS target cultural values 
	Establish, maintain and support appropriate governance arrangements, and monitor progress to ensure milestones are met and outcomes are delivered 
	Manage vendors and contracts in line with ANU policies and procedures and best practice to ensure the University interests are protected 


About You

Active Matter group at the Department of Applied Physics in Aalto University, Finland, is looking for an outstanding Postdoctoral Researcher to guide doctoral students, to develop experimental setups and to carry out research activities. You may be a fresh doctoral graduate, a rising star with an excellent doctoral thesis, or a seasoned postdoctoral researcher already experienced in guiding doctoral students and leading research projects. Your previous research activities may have been related to, for example, electrohydrodynamics, electrokinetics, colloids, bacterial turbulence, bioconvection patterns or microswimmers. You are simply excellent in physics and have superb technical skills. You can operate almost any piece of equipment fluently after a short training. You are passionate about physics, have strong attention to detail, and value clarity in all communication. You may be already now considering an academic career or a leading position in technical research and development in a company.

What we offer

The contract will be made initially for two years, after which it can be extended by up to three years (total five years). Aalto University follows the salary system of Finnish universities, and the salary of a postdoc is in the range 4020 € - 4420 €/month (gross), depending on experience. The annual workload of research and teaching staff at Aalto University is currently 1612 hours. The contract includes Aalto University occupational healthcare.

Assistant Professor in Marketing (full-time tenure track position)

Your role and our expectations

The candidate is expected to exercise and lead scientific research, provide related higher academic education, follow the advances of their field, participate in service to the Aalto University community and take part in societal interaction and international collaboration in their field. The position is to be filled at Assistant 1st or Assistant 2nd level of the Aalto University tenure track system. The position is full-time and the preferred starting time is in the Summer or Fall of 2025 but a later date may be agreed upon.

The Department of Marketing welcomes applicants with an insightful vision on “market transformations”, and expertise in advanced research skills in marketing and consumer research (e.g., strong methodological knowhow with an emphasis on contemporary, advanced methods). The applicant should have research experience and interest in studying “market transformations” such as sustainable market development (including e.g., circular economy, alternative economic and business models, critical marketing and politics, societal and ecological resilience, green marketing practice), digital technologies and platforms (e.g., digital marketing, digitalization of markets, digitalization of consumption, artificial intelligence and data-based business models, VR/AR, digital marketing ethics), fashion and luxury domains (including e.g., luxury brands, slow fashion, distributed manufacturing, fashion entrepreneurship, fashion policy research), consumer culture (e.g., identity, symbolic consumption, consumer resistance, power and inequality), and contemporary retailing (e.g., omnichannel retailing, retail branding, sensory marketing, retail business models, platforms).

Overall, Finland in general and Aalto University in particular provide a great “platform” to explore the aforementioned kinds of “market transformation” topic, as well as other topics. There are good opportunities to get access to company and consumer data, as well as even governmental data. Your experience

Applicants should have a fluent command of English and hold a doctorate degree in a relevant discipline, or have their doctoral thesis under review (“about to defend”). The applicants will be reviewed based on their research, teaching, and other academic activity in the scientific community. Experience in acquiring funding for research projects and co-operation with industry and research institutions will be considered as an advantage.

The selected candidate is expected to perform world‐class research, teach, supervise and otherwise advance both doctoral and undergraduate education, be an active member of the international scientific community, and exhibit academic leadership.

At the assistant professor level, the tenure track covers two terms. The first term is for three years, with renewal for a second four-year term being based on a successful mid-term evaluation. Subsequent promotion to Associate Professor is based on a successful tenure review, conducted towards the end of the second term of the assistant professorship. Aalto University follows the salary system of Finnish universities. Salaries are competitive within the European context. Typical teaching loads for assistant professors are moderate: two 8-week courses to be taught per year, plus master’s thesis supervision throughout the year. A yearly research funding is offered for the first three years of the tenure track. The School of Business will also provide relocation support for tenure track professors coming outside Finland. Consistent with EU insurance and pension regulations, Aalto expects full-time academic employees to reside and work in Finland. In addition, Aalto University provides its employees with occupational health care services and retirement benefits.

Description

Program Overview

The NYU Abu Dhabi Summer Academy is an 18-month university preparation program designed to enhance the academic profiles of highly motivated Emirati high school students. The program features intensive instruction in Leadership and Public Speaking, Critical Thinking and Writing, Mathematical Reasoning for the Sciences, College Readiness and Success, and IELTS Preparation over the course of two summers and an intervening academic year. 

Following a competitive admissions process, up to 90 program participants are selected each year as recipients of the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Scholarships for Outstanding High School Students, which enables them to attend the Summer Academy.

In this mixed-gender program, students are exposed to a rich cultural and rigorous academic program which enhances their ability to gain admission to and perform well at top-tier English-language universities. The program begins during the summer following the 10th year of high school and continues for the following 18 months, with two intensive summer sessions of study in Abu Dhabi at the NYUAD Campus. In addition, students participate in online study and academic refresher weekends during the following academic year.

Program Goals

University Preparation

Students gain the academic, cultural, and social skills necessary for success at top-tier universities. Summer Academy graduates have attended Yale, NYU New York, NYU Abu Dhabi, Princeton, United Arab Emirates University, The London School of Economics, George Washington University, King’s College London, The University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, and many others.

Academic Preparation

We introduce students to accelerated study of mathematics, critical thinking and writing, the humanities and to the value of a liberal arts education.

Cultural Awareness

Students develop their understanding of the social and cultural norms of universities and build useful intercultural competencies for success in university.

Test Preparation

We prepare students to excel on the standardized tests necessary for university entry.

Leadership and Public Speaking Skills

With Leadership and Public Speaking as a required course in the Summer Academy,  our program spurs confidence, personal growth, maturity, and leadership skills.

Social Networking

We bring together top students from across the UAE who form a supportive and challenging social network among themselves and with Summer Academy alumni who have gone on to university study, graduate school, professions, and leadership careers.

Job Summary

The Teaching Assistant for the Critical Thinking and Writing (CTW) course will support course delivery for up to two sections of Summer Academy students - students in their first summer of the program and students in their second summer of the program (Summer I and Summer II). The Teaching Assistant will also support programmatic activities throughout the length of the appointment (including weekends) and participate in selection activities and graduation events as needed.

Length of Appointment


	Summer Session: Five weeks from approximately July 7 - August 8, 2025
	Approximately two meetings prior to the summer session’s start for orientation activities


Principal Responsibilities

The job’s activities in terms that enable someone who knows nothing about the job to understand what is done in each activity.


	Support the delivery of the CTW course for two sections - the Classes of 2025 (Summer II) and 2026 (Summer I) in Abu Dhabi
	Under the supervision of the CTW instructor(s), meet students individually or in small groups during study halls, meals, breaks, or in the evenings to assist with reviewing classroom instruction, reading, writing, and homework assignments
	Attend any pre-program meetings and/or training sessions
	Assist the CTW instructor(s) in class with group work and with judging presentations, as necessary
	Be available to individual students and groups in need of assistance, as well as to instructors undertaking cross-curricular or collaborative projects
	Provide students with ongoing and regular feedback (oral and written) during the course 
	Participate in faculty meetings by providing detailed feedback on student progress 
	Report any instances of student misconduct, academic performance concerns, or health issues to the Summer Academy administration
	Contribute to the overall collegial atmosphere of the Summer Academy
	Attend and provide assistance as needed with co-curricular events and activities throughout the summer session, which will entail leading small groups of students on excursions and trips, or supporting the operations of the program as needed
	Oversee and support students during assigned day trips, extracurricular activities, and events, ensuring a safe and engaging environment that promotes learning and development

The Position

The Australian National Centre for the Public Awareness of Science (CPAS) is the leading centre in Australia for research, education and practice in science communication and engagement. CPAS is a global leader in the field, with collaborations across our region and the world. The Postdoctoral Fellow will contribute to the work of CPAS through collaborative research, stakeholder engagement and knowledge-exchange working closely with Dr. Jasper Montana and other key members of the team. Specifically, they will carry out research on “knowledge, data and decision-making about people and nature relations”, which will apply empirical and theoretical methods to explore the methods, metrics and means by which knowledge, data and decision-making are produced about people and nature relations, such as socioecological indicators and well-being frameworks, in both Australia and internationally. The research will evaluate the ways in which different perspectives on people and nature relations capture the values, goals, and priorities of diverse stakeholders, and the potential of different approaches to inform environmental governance, including the conservation of nature, the maintenance of biocultural diversity, and the planning of urban green and blue spaces. The Postdoctoral Fellow will contribute to the planning, development and delivery of research, including producing peer-reviewed publications as well as policy recommendations. 

The Person

We are looking for a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to quickly develop productive, professional relationships with colleagues and clients. Highly developed organisational skills and effective self-management are key. To excel in this role, the role holder will have a PhD in science and technology studies, environmental governance, environmental sociology, environmental politics, human or environmental geography or a related field, and have the ability to articulate and prosecute innovative research and critical analysis that will contribute new insights on the institutions and practices that produce knowledge, data and decision-making about people and nature relations.
