Description

The Center for Smart Engineering Materials (CSEM), New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Research Assistant to work on the development of high sensitivity integrated photonics sensors in Silicon Photonics (SiPh) platform.

The successful applicant will drive an exciting project on the development of smart optical sensors for environmental monitoring in the oil & gas industry. Our photonics research lab within the CSEM has set modern tools for the design, testing, and optimization of photonic circuits. It is open for collaboration with researchers with a background in basic research to investigate new optical circuits and materials with specific optical, electrical, and mechanical properties. The focus of this research project is related to advanced optoelectronics materials for sensing applications. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students, and undergraduate students.

Applicants must have an MSc in science or engineering. The Infectious Disease and Epidemiology Research group in the School of Clinical and Experimental Sciences wish to appoint two Research Facilitators to help support the technical aspects of research activities and to assist with the day to day running of research studies undertaken by the group. The research group is based within the Faculty of Medicine at Southampton General Hospital.

Our group is undertaking a number of projects looking at the epidemiology of respiratory pathogens. Applications are invited from those with relevant experience of laboratory based microbiology and experience of research governance. Experience of bacterial identification is desirable. These posts are full-time but consideration will be given to those who wish to work part-time. Applicants must be available to work with some flexibility.

We are seeking motivated postdoctoral scholars with a passion for flexible bioelectronics and medical robotics to join our dynamic research team. This project focuses on developing a smart bioelectronic system that seamlessly integrates therapeutic functions with continuous monitoring capabilities. The system incorporates cutting-edge technologies in bioelectronics, soft robotics, and materials science, leveraging advanced materials and fabrication technologies. As a member of the Multiscale Intelligent Biodevices Lab (MIB), led by Dr. Rujie Sun at the University of Southampton, you will lead efforts to develop innovative bioelectronic systems that integrate real-time monitoring and therapeutic functions. Your primary focus will be designing and fabricating flexible bioelectronics that can interface seamlessly with biological tissues, combining soft robotic techniques to enhance personalized treatment. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on interdisciplinary projects, pushing the frontiers of personalized medicine and health management. In this project, you will collaborate with Inha University and have access to a broad network of academic partners, including Imperial College London, University of Oxford, University of Bristol, and University of Liverpool. The successful applicant should have required qualifications and experience


	Education: PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related disciplines with a strong academic record (Or working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD).
	Research Interests: Demonstrated enthusiasm for research in flexible bioelectronics, soft medical robotics, or related fields.
	Skills: Extensive experience in microfabrication techniques for bioelectronics or soft robotics, as well as expertise in biomaterials for medical tools. Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, and excellent communication skills.

Description

New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a Research Scientist to work within the newly established Abu Dhabi Precision Medicine Virtual Research Institute (ADPMVRI) supervised by Prof Bas Rokers. The Institute aims to develop a comprehensive research infrastructure - whereby diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment are tailored to each patient. The Institute will provide a set of platforms specific to the most common non-communicable diseases in Abu Dhabi, centered on biomarkers quantifying disease state, stratifying disease subtypes, and monitoring disease progression. In the context of brain health research, the Institute aims to identify markers predictive of perceptual and cognitive impairment in health conditions prevalent in the region, including diabetes, multiple sclerosis, obesity and normal vs. traumatic brain aging.

The appointed applicant is expected to develop and deploy solutions to handle the management and analysis of large amounts of neuroimaging, genomics, and health-related data. The ideal candidate must have a background in database management, neuroimaging and/or genomics data analytics, and machine learning and artificial intelligence applications. The candidate is expected to have programming experience with MATLAB, python, shell scripting, and UNIX/LINUX environments. Familiarity working within a high-performance computing environment is ideal.

To be considered, applicants must have received a PhD in Computer Science, Psychology, Neuroscience, mathematics, physics, Biology, Biomedical Engineering or a relevant STEM field.
