Maebashi Institute of Technology is a public engineering university in the city of Maebashi, Japan.

The predecessor of the school, Maebashi Junior College of Technology, was founded in 1952 and had two departments: civil engineering and architecture. It was chartered as a university in 1997.

There are about 1,300 full-time equivalent students across one faculty of engineering and one graduate school of engineering.

The faculty of engineering is made up of six departments: civil and environmental engineering, architecture, life science and informatics, systems life engineering, biotechnology and integrated design engineering. The graduate school offers one doctoral programme and five master's programmes across similar areas.

Students are able to enrol in courses and earn course credits at two other public universities in the area, Gunma Prefectural Women’s University and Takasaki City University of Economics. Students are also able to enrol in courses in other departments within the university for a maximum of 20 credits.

The university has made international exchange agreements with several foreign universities, such as the Beijing University of Technology.

In the departments of civil and environmental engineering, systems life engineering, and biotechnology, there are project study programmes to deepen students’ technical knowledge and skill.

The department of integrated design engineering offers courses primarily at night for local working people’s continuing education.

The city of Maebashi is known as the City of Water, Greenery and Poetry. It lies at the base of the mountain Akagi, with the Tone River flowing through it, and has produced several modern poets, such as Sakutaro and Hagiwara.
