Officially founded in 1954, Kunming University of Science and Technology is the largest university and the only polytechnic university across Yunnan province ,China.
The university offers undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programmes in more than 30 disciplines ranging from arts and humanities to medicine. The university is particularly reputed for its disciplines of engineering, material science and chemistry.
The university is popularly known as KUST. It is a research-oriented and industry-based public university and has more than 17 key national research centres. It is an important stakeholder of the Yunnan University Science Park. In line with its objective to transform into a high-class research university, KUST has established academic partnerships with more than 150 universities in more than 30 countries. The university has also been active in developing the academic cooperation and collaboration of China with other South East and South Asian countries.
Kunming University of Science and Technology is spread over an area of 120 hectares and comprises of three campuses: Chenggong, Lianhua, and Xinying. The university campuses have a well-equipped library, key research institutions and a host of facilities to help students prosper personally as well as professionally.
The university aspires to become a hub for high-tech research and a national consulting centre for national social and economic development. It works in close collaboration with China’s leading academies like the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Chinese Academy of Science. KUST has been increasing its enrolment of international student in the previous years and has deepened its collaboration with a variety of industrial sectors such as mining.
