King’s George Medical University is one of the most renowned medical institutes in northern India. The university is located in the heart of the historic city of Lucknow. It was established in 1911 and is recognised by University Grants Commission (UGC) and Medical Council of India (MCI).
The university has two faculties: the faculty of medicine and the faculty of dentistry. It has two institutes: The Institute of Paramedical Sciences and the Institute of Nursing. More recently, the university has introduced a student exchange programme to offer its students the opportunity to widen their horizons and study within an entirely new culture.
Student accommodation is available in hostels on a twin share basis and students have access to a host of facilities such as shops, cafes, banks, and chemists. There is a free shuttle service for students to move from one department to another at ease.
The university has a student union and a host of different recreational clubs and societies for students to participate in. King George’s also hosts a variety of events throughout the year for students and faculty to enjoy, such as: International Yoga Day, Women’s Day, and Republic Day Celebrations.
The university campus is situated about 5km from Charbagh Railway Station and is well connected to all parts of the city by public transport systems such as bus, tempo and taxi. There is a thriving social and cultural scene in the historic city of Lucknow, famous for its monuments and delicious food.
