Kindai University, formerly known in English as Kinki University, is a private university founded in 1925, with its main campus in Higashiosaka, Osaka prefecture, Japan.

The university is one of the largest universities in Japan, boasting 15 faculties with 49 departments and 13 graduate schools.

The university has campuses in six locations: two campuses in Osaka, Nara, Wakayama, Hiroshima, and Fukuoka.

It offers high-quality practical education and leading research across disciplines from medicine to arts.

Founded on the principles of “learning for the real world” and “nurturing intellectual and emotional intelligence”, the university aims to develop graduates who are “caring, trustworthy, and respectable”. 

The university now offers a wide range of subjects across the educational spectrum but maintains strengths in its science and business offerings. For instance, the university was responsible for some of the first advancements in Japanese fish farming.

The university works with a number of overseas universities, facilitating both student exchange and academic collaboration.

In addition, the university and partner institutions cooperate in conducting and publishing research in a range of fields.

The university has a wealth of facilities and equipment for promoting state-of-the-art research and nurturing outstanding researchers. These assets also foster the development of human resources who can play an active role on the world stage. Notably, the Department of Medical Oncology is the first university department in Japan dedicated to medical oncology.

The university has third largest alumni association members in Japan and has produced a number of famous alumni, including athletes such as Olympic archers and swimmers. Many successful sumo wrestlers also attended the university.
