Khulna University of Engineering and Technology was established in 1967 as Khulna Engineering College as part of the University of Rajshahi. The university gained its current name and status in 2003.
As its name suggests, the university specialises in offering engineering and technology knowledge and practice through a range of degree programmes across its faculties.
The university campus is located in Khulna, Bangladesh which lies along the Bhairab River. It is home to several higher education institutions including KUET and Khulna University, and therefore has a large student population.
The university has three main faculties: civil engineering, electrical and electronic engineering and mechanical engineering, with a wide range of departments within these faculties such as physics, biomedical engineering, textile engineering, and energy science and engineering. There are also three institutes as part of the academic offering at KUET, including: information and communication technology, disaster management, and environment and power technology.
Across its faculties, departments and institutes, the university offers engineering education at both an undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Aiming to fulfill national and international demands, Khulna University has recently introduced short courses, diplomas and research and training programmes in various technological fields including information technology and disaster management.
KUET’s campus has a range of facilities including a central library, computer centre, medical centre, on and off campus transport, as well as an open stage, indoor games arena and swimming pool. KUET students can stay on campus and live in one of seven student buildings, one of which is female-only.
