The International University of Erbil is one of 14 private, tertiary institutions in Erbil, the capital of Iraq’s Kurdistan province.
It was founded in 2009.
IUE is divided into faculties of engineering, business management, education, law and international studies. Students are admitted to degree courses which include tourism and hospitality management, English, medical microbiology and a number of branches of engineering – civil, electrical, mechanical and computer – on the basis of criteria laid down by Kurdistan province’s Ministry of Higher Education.
It runs its own academic journal, AJIVE.
Outreach activities have included medical microbiologists offering presentations and tests for Hepatitis B in the province’s high schools, and workshops on therapeutic approaches to breast cancer.
