About the Role

Based at the City East campus, the Lecturer in Aboriginal Health is responsible for contributing to the teaching, scholarship, research and professional activities of the Allied Health & Human Performance Unit at UniSA.

With a primary focus on Aboriginal Health curriculum development, delivery and pedagogies, the successful candidate will develop a network of contacts to support and contribute to the broader Aboriginal Health portfolio of teaching and research activity within the Unit.

	Apply research and scholarship to the development of courses, including investigating and developing alternative teaching methods and the initiation and development of new material

	Ability to undertake a range of teaching duties including the preparation of appropriate teaching materials and resources
	High level written and oral communication skills and the capability to use the necessary digital techniques required for effective curriculum delivery
	The ability to enhance the research profile of the Academic Unit through collaborative research

ABOUT XJTLU

In 2006 Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) was created by the University of Liverpool and Xi’an Jiaotong University – a top ten university in China. ABOUT INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS SCHOOL SUZHOU (IBSS)

International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University is growing in size and influence in pursuit of its vision to be a leading international business school. The Department of SMO, which encompasses the fields of HRM, International Business, Strategy, and Leadership, is set to become an independent academic unit with the beginning of the 2020/21 academic year, as a result of splitting the original Department of Management. At present, the SMO department has a strong team of 35 academic staff and 8 PhD students, publishing in top journals, such as Human Resource Management, Management International Review, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Business Research, R&D Management, Journal of Organizational Behaviour, Journal of Vocational Behaviour, Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology and among others. Members of the department teach a large number of undergraduate students in business administration, international business with a language, and human resource management programmes as well as postgraduate students enrolled in the MSc Management or the IMBA.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Applications are invited for Strategy/IB/CSR, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, HRM, and Sustainable Development at IBSS of XJTLU. XJTLU is a research-led university. In this context, even though the workload of faculty in IBSS is generally shared between teaching, research, and service, early-career faculty members are expected to spend the majority of their time on research, followed by teaching, then service. Research activities include the publication of research articles, attendance of international conferences, and applications for research funding. Research performance in the School is benchmarked on internationally recognized lists of journal quality such as the Academic Journal Guide (UK) – a.k.a. the ABS list – and the ABDC list (Australia). The target levels on those lists are ABS3/ABDC-A or above.

The successful candidate will be expected to deliver lectures and tutorials across all years of the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes; to supervise undergraduate, masters’ and potentially doctoral dissertations.

Areas of responsibilities: (1) Strategy, International Business (IB) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR); (2) Innovation and Entrepreneurship; (3) Human Resource Management; (4) Sustainable Development; and (5) Quantitative and Qualitative Research Methods.

Essential Qualifications/Experience

Successful applicants to the position of Assistant/Associate Professor are expected to have:


	A PhD degree in a related field,
	Teaching experience in higher education,
	A proven record of academic publications in good journals, or alternatively, for early-career academics, a strong pipeline of promising research.


Successful applicants to the position of Senior Associate Professor/Full Professor are expected to also show:


	Excellent teaching record,
	A significant record of high-quality academic publications,
	A number of external research grants awards,
	Successful experience in PhD supervision.

Program Overview

The NYU Abu Dhabi Summer Academy is an 18-month university preparation program designed to enhance the academic profiles of highly motivated Emirati high school students. The program features intensive instruction in Leadership and Public Speaking, Critical Thinking and Writing, Mathematical Reasoning for the Sciences, College Readiness and Success, and IELTS Preparation over the course of two summers and an intervening academic year. 

Following a competitive admissions process, up to 90 program participants are selected each year as recipients of the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Scholarships for Outstanding High School Students, which enables them to attend the Summer Academy.

In this mixed-gender program, students are exposed to a rich cultural and rigorous academic program which enhances their ability to gain admission to and perform well at top-tier English-language universities. The program begins during the summer following the 10th year of high school and continues for the following 18 months, with two intensive summer sessions of study in Abu Dhabi at the NYUAD Campus. In addition, students participate in online study and academic refresher weekends during the following academic year.

University Preparation

Students gain the academic, cultural, and social skills necessary for success at top-tier universities. Summer Academy graduates have attended Yale, NYU New York, NYU Abu Dhabi, Princeton, United Arab Emirates University, The London School of Economics, George Washington University, King’s College London, The University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, and many others.

Academic Preparation

We introduce students to accelerated study of mathematics, critical thinking and writing, the humanities and to the value of a liberal arts education.

Cultural Awareness

Students develop their understanding of the social and cultural norms of universities and build useful intercultural competencies for success in university.

Test Preparation

We prepare students to excel on the standardized tests necessary for university entry.

Leadership and Public Speaking Skills

With Leadership and Public Speaking as a required course in the Summer Academy,  our program spurs confidence, personal growth, maturity, and leadership skills.

Social Networking

We bring together top students from across the UAE who form a supportive and challenging social network among themselves and with Summer Academy alumni who have gone on to university study, graduate school, professions, and leadership careers.

Job Summary

The Teaching Assistant for the Critical Thinking and Writing (CTW) course will support course delivery for up to two sections of Summer Academy students - students in their first summer of the program and students in their second summer of the program (Summer I and Summer II). The Teaching Assistant will also support programmatic activities throughout the length of the appointment (including weekends) and participate in selection activities and graduation events as needed.

Length of Appointment


	Summer Session: Five weeks from approximately July 7 - August 8, 2025
	Approximately two meetings prior to the summer session’s start for orientation activities


Principal Responsibilities

The job’s activities in terms that enable someone who knows nothing about the job to understand what is done in each activity.


	Support the delivery of the CTW course for two sections - the Classes of 2025 (Summer II) and 2026 (Summer I) in Abu Dhabi
	Under the supervision of the CTW instructor(s), meet students individually or in small groups during study halls, meals, breaks, or in the evenings to assist with reviewing classroom instruction, reading, writing, and homework assignments
	Attend any pre-program meetings and/or training sessions
	Assist the CTW instructor(s) in class with group work and with judging presentations, as necessary
	Be available to individual students and groups in need of assistance, as well as to instructors undertaking cross-curricular or collaborative projects
	Provide students with ongoing and regular feedback (oral and written) during the course 
	Participate in faculty meetings by providing detailed feedback on student progress 
	Report any instances of student misconduct, academic performance concerns, or health issues to the Summer Academy administration
	Contribute to the overall collegial atmosphere of the Summer Academy
	Attend and provide assistance as needed with co-curricular events and activities throughout the summer session, which will entail leading small groups of students on excursions and trips, or supporting the operations of the program as needed
	Oversee and support students during assigned day trips, extracurricular activities, and events, ensuring a safe and engaging environment that promotes learning and development

ABOUT DEPARTMENT OF FINANCIAL AND ACTUARIAL MATHEMATICS

The Department of Financial and Actuarial Mathematics (FAM) is devoted to education and research for undergraduate and postgraduate students in the financial and actuarial fields.

Department of Financial and Actuarial Mathematics (FAM) is a friendly and academic-inspiring hub for researchers, educators, students in financial mathematics, actuarial science, and statistics. Our department is a well-established education centre for financial mathematics and actuarial science at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The department has diversified research areas with focus on financial mathematics, actuarial science, statistics and probability. The department also provide PhD degree education in these research areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES


	Conduct high-quality research as shown by publications in leading journals.
	Actively pursue external research funding.
	Supervise PhD students, Master and undergraduate student projects.
	Teach undergraduate and postgraduate students in English.
	Contribute to the functioning of the department and school.


The successful candidate is expected to deliver research and teaching in Statistics and Data Science which include Statistics, Probability, Stochastic modeling, Risk Management, Data Science or similar areas depending on the evolving needs of the department. The successful candidates are also expected to supervise undergraduate and graduate students in research and contribute to the university in terms of service and administration. The work load in teaching and administration is comparable to other research led universities. Successful candidates are also expected to apply for internal and external research funding opportunities.

ABOUT XJTLU

In 2006 Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) was created by the University of Liverpool and Xi’an Jiaotong University – a top ten university in China. Offering a unique international education experience, XJTLU brings together excellent research practice and expertise from both institutions and gives students the skills and knowledge they need to secure careers in a global marketplace. Adopting a new higher education model based on the concept of Syntegrative Education (SE), XJTLU is currently opening a new Entrepreneurial Education site in Taicang, part of wider Suzhou, where the Entrepreneur College (Taicang) is located. The Taicang site will be a pioneer of, and educational model for, the future campus in addressing challenges arising from the 4th Industrial Revolution. Other new initiatives include new working partnerships with Xi’an Jiaotong University, the continued development of the four new Academies, and exploration of further potential locations to develop the SE model.

With a focus on innovative learning and teaching, and research, XJTLU draws on the strengths of its parent universities, and plays a pivotal role in facilitating access to China for UK and other institutional partners. ABOUT INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS SCHOOL SUZHOU (IBSS)

International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University is growing in size and influence in pursuit of its vision to be a leading international business school. The school is based on strong principles of internationalism, innovation, inspiration and integrity, which together ensure that we have a positive impact on society through our teaching, research and business engagement. In that pursuit, IBSS became the youngest business school to be accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) in 2016, and again, the youngest School to receive EQUIS accreditation in 2018. Receiving joint accreditation of AMBA and BGA in 2020, IBSS became the world’s 103rd triple accredited business school.

The five departments of IBSS are Accounting, Economics, Finance, Intelligent Operations and Marketing, and Strategic Management and Organizations with over 170 faculty members and more than 6,000 students from over 60 different countries. IBSS delivers a range of undergraduate, postgraduate, MBA, PhD and Executive Education programmes across all major business disciplines.

The Finance Department becomes an independent academic unit at the beginning of the 2020/21 academic year, as a result of splitting the original Department of Accounting and Finance. At present, the Finance Department has a team of 25 academic staff, publishing in high-quality international journals in finance and other business fileds and also maintaining a balance of academic research and professional engagement. All of our finance faculty members are PhD holders and some are affiliated with professional accounting and finance bodies such as the Certified Financial Analysts Institute (CFA) and CPA Australia. Members of the Department teach a spectrum of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Management, Marketing, Financial Mathematics, and Financial Computing, etc. The Finance Department currently offers two MSc programmes (MSc Finance, MSc Investment Management). The MSc Investment Management programme has received professional recognition from the Certified Financial Analysts Institute. In addition, a new MSc Entrepreneurship and Innovation (FinTech Pathway) was launched in 2022.

RESPONSIBILITIES

XJTLU is a research-led university. In this context, even though the workload of Research track faculty in IBSS is generally shared between teaching, research, and service, early-career faculty members are expected to spend the majority of their time on research, followed by teaching, then service. Research activities include the publication of research articles, attendance of international conferences, and applications for research funding. Research performance in the School is benchmarked on internationally recognized lists of journal quality such as the Academic Journal Guide (UK) – a.k.a. the ABS list – and the ABDC list (Australia). The target levels on those lists are ABS3/ABDC-A or above. Other than Research track faculty, we also welcome applications for Teaching and Practice track faculty positions.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES

Successful applicants to the position of Teaching Fellow/Senior Teaching Fellow are expected to have:


	A Master’s degree (preferably a PhD degree for Senior Teaching Fellow) in Finance or a related field,
	Teaching experience in higher education with evidence of teaching excellence,
	Experience in programme development and teaching-related scholarship (e.g. publication of case study or teaching-related research),
	Professional qualifications (CFA/FRM and other equivalent finance qualifications).


Desirable Qualifications/Experience


	A recognized qualification in the practice of learning and teaching in higher education,
	Experience in developing and teaching Executive Education programmes,
	Application and development of novel approaches to learning and teaching.


CITIZENSHIP &VISA REGULATIONS

Employment at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University is regulated by Chinese Labour Laws, and must comply with the regulations of the provincial government. These regulations stipulate who is eligible for legal employment with regard to obtaining work permits and visas.  Please be advised candidates over 65 may be not eligible for a work visa in the P.R. China.
