In 2012, it became listed with the Higher Education Committee (HIC), and in 2017 was granted university status and became Ilma University.
The university has four faculties: management sciences, science and technology, computer science, and media and design. Undergraduate and postgraduate programmes are offered to Ilma University students. It offers PhD courses in specialised courses such as marketing, banking and finance, human resource management, and supply chain management.
Student life is vibrant and abundant at Ilma University, with events, associations, speakers and sports clubs for students to get involved with. There are student elections, guest speaker sessions, promotional campaigns and concerts for students to develop leadership, public speaking and team work skills. Events on campus include Women’s Day and Convocation Ceremonies. There is a student publication and student council for budding journalists and politically-interested students to involve themselves in.
The university is located in Karachi, the capital of Pakistan’s Sindh province. There is also an abundance of history and culture to explore, from the Mohatta Palace to the Mazar E Quaid Jinnah Mausoleum marble monument.
