About the Role

The Student Placement Officer, internally referred to as the Work Integrated Learning Support Officer is responsible for providing a range of support services for the College’s Work Integrated (WIL) programs. You will work closely with the WIL Team Leader to leverage opportunities internally and externally and assist with administration, matching students to placements and ensuring that students meet the requirements for preplacement/WIL experience and contribute to enhancing positive graduate outcomes.

You will be required to provide timely advice to various stakeholders and students to support WIL supervision and exercise sound judgement when dealing with sensitive or urgent issues relating to student placements.

As the successful candidate you will be accountable for:


	Liaising with placement providers and undertaking any administration required for placements, including the preparation of contracts, and maintaining quality student data.
	Processing and maintaining accurate data of student placements experience and supporting academic placement coordinators.
	Maintaining data records in relevant systems and preparing reports and correspondence as requested.
	Assisting with the organisation and sharing of WIL information via online and in-person methods to students, industry and academics.


About You

The key to your success will be your well-developed organisation skills as you demonstrate your ability to prioritise operational situations and meet urgent deadlines. The Work Integrated Learning Support Officer will exercise initiative and problem-solving skills to interpret and advise on systems, policies and procedures for the continual improvement of WIL support services.

You will have excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills, allowing you to work collaboratively with a range of university stakeholders and external organisations.

To be successful you will also demonstrate:


	Relevant administrative experience and/or education and training.
	Experience in maintaining positive relationships, with internal and external stakeholders.
	Effective use of systems and databases including the ability to extract, manipulate and analyse data.
	Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise initiative and sound judgment to solve problems and make decisions.

About the role:

As a Senior Consultant, Workplace Relations, you will play a key role in managing complex employee relations issues and providing expert guidance on workplace matters, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and promoting a positive and equitable work environment. Reporting to the Associate Director, Workplace Relations, you’ll drive workplace relations projects and initiatives and play an essential part in legislative compliance and best-practice implementation across the university.

As a Senior Consultant, you will:


	Provide expert advice on workplace relations matters, including enterprise agreement (EA) interpretation and managing complex cases like industrial disputes.
	Represent the University at Conciliation hearings, preparing materials and recommending approaches to support positive outcomes.
	Advise stakeholders on workplace relations issues, offering practical, balanced guidance that considers organisational risk.
	Contribute to enterprise bargaining efforts, preparing EA documentation for the Fair Work Commission and supporting good faith negotiations.
	Lead or support investigations into misconduct, discrimination, harassment, and bullying, preparing reports with actionable recommendations.


To be successful, you’ll have:


	A postgraduate qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience in workplace relations and/or employment law
	Extensive knowledge of workplace/industrial relations legislation and practices and ideally, at least 3 years post admissions experience
	Proven experience in managing complex workplace relations issues and influencing key stakeholders
	Demonstrated ability to provide training and coaching on workplace relations issues, including conflict resolution and grievance management
	Excellent interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to build and maintain productive relationships across all levels of the university and with external partners

Job description

A vacancy has become available in our busy café which serves our students and staff. We have 4 cafés within the University, and you will play a key role in creating a welcoming atmosphere for our customers while ensuring they receive outstanding service.

The role will include serving hot and cold food to customers, having excellent product knowledge and upselling products. You will work alongside a professional and diverse team.

You must have previous experience of working in a catering environment with both front of house and back of house experience, excellent customer service skills and relevant Food Hygiene certification.

The post-holder will be expected to work flexibly to meet the demands of the service.

This role is 23.75 hours per week, 36 weeks per year.

Description

The Division of Science at New York University Abu Dhabi, UAE is inviting applications for a Post-Doctoral Associate position in the areas of Protein Biochemistry and Enzymology. The candidate will work under the supervision of Prof. Wael Rabeh (https://www.rabehlab.com/) on the study of enzymes’ structures and functions in the area of cancer metabolism and viral infectious diseases. Applicants must have a strong background in protein biochemistry including experience in protein expression and purification. The lab is well equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for spectroscopy, thermodynamic and kinetic characterization of proteins’ thermal and chemical unfolding, and mass-spectroscopy for studying protein dynamics.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in biochemistry or a related field of study. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview. Experience in mass spectroscopy or enzymology is desirable. Priority given to candidates with a background in the following areas of expertise:

Protein expression and purification (essential): The candidate must have prior hands-on experience in protein expression in E. coli or other cell lines and purification using affinity and size exclusion chromatography. Experience using FPLC in protein purification is a plus.

Experience in any of the following areas is a plus:


	Enzymology: mechanistic characterization of enzymes using initial velocity and enzyme inhibition kinetics.
	Hydrogen/deuterium exchange (HDX) mass spectrometry (MS) application in the study of enzyme dynamics and protein structural characterization.
	Spectroscopy including UV-Vis, fluorescence and circular dichroism spectroscopy.
	Calorimetry including differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC).


The appointment is for a one-year, renewable term, starting on August 1st, 2024. The employment terms are competitive and include a tax-free salary plus housing and educational subsidies and health and dental insurance for the Postdoctoral Associate and their dependents. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on research experience in a well-funded, and internationally prominent, research group. In particular we are looking for candidates who are keen to gain experience prior to starting a PhD or research post in developmental, educational or clinical psychology or neuroscience.

An Institute Manager is required for the new Institute for the Science of Early Years (ISEY), a new centre currently being set up based on existing work from the UEL BabyDev Lab (www.uelbabydev.com), and other world-leading courses at UEL (e.g. the Educational and Child Psychology Prof Doc and Clinical Psychology Prof Doc, Psychology, Education). 

The post holder will be responsible for coordinating several ongoing research grants in early years neuroscience, including awards from the European Research Council, European Union, Economic and Social Research Councils UK, and Medical Research Council, as well as liaising with academic staff, local national and international educational bodies, commercial partners, clinical partners, local councils, journalists and media.

Duties will be highly varied, and will involve: managing recruitment of infant/child participants, coordinating a large and highly active group research including coordinating lab meetings, procurement, reports to grant holders, coordinating academic staff across the university, managing students and interns on research projects, managing the group’s state-of-the-art research facilities which include AR/VR, EEG, fNIRS, eyetracking, wearables, managing the centre’s social media channels, dealing with press inquiries, liaising with local education providers and clinical partners, and so on.
