About the opportunity

The Digital Fabrication Lab Coordinator is a Senior Technical Support team lead based in the University of Sydney School of Architecture, Design and Planning. This role will manage the Digital Fabrication facilities and staffing of the Design Modelling and Fabrication Lab (DMaF Lab), including 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC machining, robotics and other digital technologies associated with design and fabrication.

This role provides leadership, guidance and support to staff in the work area, solves complex technical challenges, and manages an exciting and evolving area focused on digital fabrication.

The role is based in the Design Modelling and Fabrication Lab, a space in the School of Architecture, Design and Planning that supports a diverse community of designers and learners to prototype their ideas, tackle design challenges, and experiment with new techniques through the provision of industry leading technology and technical support.

Your key responsibilities will be to:


	oversee day-to-day operation of the Digital Fabrication Lab, developing the facility to ensure the work area meets the technical teaching, learning and research support needs of the School
	coordinate and provide specialist digital fabrication services, training and support to students, researchers and other technical staff in a range of digital fabrication focused technology, including CAD and CAM
	manage a team of technical staff including ongoing, casual and student assistant positions
	ensure compliance with work health and safety standards
	develop technical instruction material and collaborate with academic staff to provide excellent teaching support and support student experience
	deliver service excellence to the stakeholders of the School.


About you


	an expert background in digital fabrication and making, who has leadership and administrative skills and is ready to lead a technical support team to deliver service excellence.
	strong organisation and time management abilities - they will be planning and coordinating a roster of casual staff and working with multiple stakeholders across the School
	able to negotiate with academic staff, provide support to their team, and will oversee student communications from the lab
	a supportive, team-focused and collaborative approach to their work
	high level computer skills, including design software, CAD and CAM with the ability to learn, master and instruct new software as required
	proficiency with excel and able to operate a range of scheduling and record keeping systems
	dedicated to teaching and learning; designing and running in-person inductions as well as developing online resources for the lab
	ensure Workplace Health and Safety compliance across their work area, and is responsible for making sure the work area operates efficiently and effectively.
	previous experience in tertiary education technical support and in fabrication or design focused roles is essential.

The role

The Student & Academic Administration Department is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Exams, Graduation and Awards Team based on the Stag Hill campus.

The Exams, Graduation and Awards team is a small but busy team who are responsible for the organisation of class tests and university exams, the organisation of the university’s graduation ceremonies and award related activities. As part of this team, you will have some responsibilities in all these key areas of activity.

You will work closely with your Line Manager, and academic and administrative staff across the central and Faculty services, in order to deliver a high quality and efficient service across a range of Exams, Graduation and Award tasks.

About you

The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to multitask, to communicate effectively to different audiences, and the ability to work to a high level of accuracy. The role will require excellent interpersonal and organisational ability. You will need to be adaptable to different situations and should be well organised and methodical in your approach.

Relevant administrative experience would be a distinct advantage. Excellent IT skills, particularly in MS Office packages, and familiarity with databases would be beneficial. Accuracy and attention to detail and a proactive approach to different groups of customers is essential.

The Vietnamese-German University (VGU) is seeking a highly qualified full-time lecturer in Building Physics. Candidates must hold at least a Master's degree (but having a PhD is a significant advantage) in Architecture with strong expertise in Building Climatology or a closely related field and have a strong background in research. Relevant international experience is of advantage. The successful candidate will become part of an international network of universities and research institutes.

Teaching Responsibilities

In the role of a lecturer, the successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in the Architecture Program (ARC). The expected workload for the in-class lecture conduction is 08 academic hours per week, totaling 240 academic hours per year (1 academic hour equals to 45 minutes).

Teaching should reflect current research methods and results, and comprises lectures on the following modules:


	Building Climatology I
	Building Climatology II
	Studio Project I
	Elective I


The named courses are subject to change upon realistic needs of the programs and joint agreement between the lecturer, relevant Academic Coordinators, and Dean/Vice Dean in charge of teaching. Courses may require conducting relevant laboratory activities and/or advising student projects.

The holder of this job is also responsible for supervising bachelor’s theses in the Architecture field.

Research Responsibilities

As a faculty member of a research-oriented university, the successful candidate is expected to significantly contribute to the scientific profile of VGU through innovation. This includes and is not limited to comprehensive activities in basic research as well as applied research in the fields of Building Physics in Architecture. The ability to apply and generate externally funded research projects is highly desirable.

Administrative responsibilities

The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the development of the Architecture Program by participating in administrative, marketing and other public activities of the program in consultation with the Academic Coordinator of the study program and the German partner university, namely Anhalt University of Applied Sciences. She or he is also expected to contribute actively to the academic self-administration of the Faculty of Engineering and university by being willing to stand for election to the Faculty Council, Academic Senate and/or other bodies.

Qualification

Candidates must at least hold a Master's degree (having a PhD is a significant advantage) in Architecture or a closely related field, preferably from a well-known international university. A current title of Professor will be a plus, as experience and understanding of the German higher education system and methodology. Other requirements include:


	Must have an architectural design portfolio to show working experience in the field
	An outstanding academic record with a focus on Building Physics in Architecture or other areas closely related to it
	Experience in the industry is required
	Record of successful research activities and publications in international and peer-reviewed journals in the related area is an advantage
	Proven teaching experience with strong self-motivation combined with a passion for teaching and research
	Proven excellent English proficiency:


Candidates who are from non-native English-speaking countries should include one of the following valid English proficiency certificates; IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 548(PBT), TOEFL 84 (iBT), TOEFL 212 (CBT), CEFR level B2 or Aptis level C1 at the time of application submission. About the role - Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga

In 2025, the University of Waikato is formally creating Te Ara Tatauranga - The Statistical Consulting Group. This full-time role will be to work primarily as a statistical consultant, supporting research within the University for both students and academic staff, and working on external consulting projects. This role will also contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, primarily through lectures. The initial appointment will be for a three-year fixed-term position with the potential for continuation upon conclusion of the original term depending on the performance of Te Ara Tatauranga.

Salary will be in the range of $87,500 to $104,322 per year based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours a week), based at our Hillcrest Campus, Hamilton.
