About the position

The School of Nursing and Midwifery has immersed its curricula and research within a range of clinical contexts. The School offers undergraduate, postgraduate and higher degree research programs. An essential element is the establishment of Clinical Schools based at Alfred Health, Austin Health, Northern Health and Melbourne Health networks. The Clinical Schools enable students direct access to expert clinicians and clinical services, provide a rich environment for clinically relevant research and practice change and facilitate opportunities for staff to undertake clinical practice. Bachelor of Nursing students are based at an allocated clinical school for the third year of the program, with all relevant theory and clinical placements provided within clinical school networks. Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Midwifery students are also placed at the Women’s and Mercy Hospitals.  The School has a long established national and international reputation in nursing and midwifery research and education and the Clinical Schools provide opportunities for educational innovations, including simulation and clinician facilitated student supervision.

The School is seeking a Level B academic with expertise in contemporary nursing research/practice, and in facilitating undergraduate and postgraduate education.  The successful candidate will be expected to make a significant contribution to the national and international research reputation of the School/University, and will also undertake research resulting in external grant income and international peer-reviewed publications in leading journals in the field.

As the successful incumbent you could work across all sites associated with the Melbourne (Bundoora) campus.

Duties at this level will include: 


	Develop, coordinate and teach a high-quality learning experience that engages students through the conduct of tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, clinical sessions and/or studio sessions.
	Demonstrate a scholarly approach to learning and teaching and contribute to disciplinary teaching pedagogy and research.
	Keep abreast of innovations in teaching and learning in areas such as, but not restricted to, online and blended delivery and incorporate where appropriate, to continually develop professional practice skills/knowledge and expertise.
	Conduct and publish, or otherwise disseminate high quality and/or high impact research as a member of a team or independently and produce conference/seminar papers and international peer-reviewed publications from that research as per the academic level benchmarks for the position.
	Attend to effective and efficient performance of allocated leadership and administrative functions connected with the position.


Skills and knowledge required for the position:


	Registered or eligible to register as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
	A PhD or equivalent accreditation and standing recognised by the University/profession as appropriate for the Nursing/Midwifery disciplines.
	Demonstrated competence in teaching and curriculum development.
	Evidence of high quality and/or high impact research funded, conducted and published or otherwise disseminated, relative to opportunity.
	Ability to supervise, or co-supervise, honours, postgraduate and HDR students.

You will be responsible for making a significant contribution to the strategic student acquisition goals by designing, implementing and iterating marketing, promotional and engagement programs. Additionally, you will work collaboratively with teams across the university to provide appropriate and relevant information to future students and key stakeholders.

	Experience in relationship management and influencing stakeholders.
	Experience in all facets of event management including planning, promotion, implementation and evaluation.
	Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills with previous experience in communicating and presenting to influence.

The Finnish Museum of Natural History LUOMUS at the University of Helsinki invites applications for a 

Postdoctoral Researcher, Biodiversity Change

for a fixed-term employment for the duration of two years starting in May 2025, or as agreed. The work will be based at the Finnish Museum of Natural History LUOMUS at the University of Helsinki, Helsinki, Finland. The postdoctoral researcher will join the Biodiversity Change research group, and they will work under the supervision of Julia Kemppinen, the assistant professor in biodiversity change. The postdoctoral project is funded with the start-up package appointed to Kemppinen by the University of Helsinki.

About the position

The main aim of the postdoctoral project is to design and conduct experiments for testing causality in plant-microclimate relationships. The focus is on tundra plants under climate change and how microclimates shape responses within and across species, populations, and communities. The main task of the postdoctoral researcher involves designing and registering protocols for greenhouse and/or field experiments, conducting the experiments, and carrying out the related statistical analyses and writing of manuscripts.

Qualifications of the postdoctoral researcher

The position requires a doctoral degree relevant for the project, for instance a PhD in ecology, and the ability to conduct independent scholarly work. The position also provides the opportunity to co-supervise training periods and theses of master student’s related to the postdoctoral project (max. 5 % of annual working time). Experience in conducting greenhouse or field experiments is highly valued, as well as strong skills in programming and statistics, and good knowledge of tundra plants and microclimate ecology. Excellent collaboration and communication skills are also highly valued.

The appointee should have:


	a doctoral degree by the beginning of employment
	the ability to conduct independent scholarly work
	the necessary teaching skills for the position


Also, these qualities are highly valued:


	experience in conducting greenhouse or field experiments
	strong skills in programming and statistics

The salary of the postdoctoral researcher will be based on level 5 of the demands level chart for teaching and research personnel in the salary system of Finnish universities. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal performance. The starting salary of the postdoctoral researcher will be ca. 3400-3800 euros/month, depending on the appointee's qualifications and experience. A six-month trial period will be applied. The working hours of the postdoctoral researcher will be 1612 hours on a yearly basis as the they will belong to the annual workload scheme of research and teaching staff. Annual holidays are approximately five to seven weeks during the academic year.

About the Finnish Museum of Natural History LUOMUS

The Finnish Museum of Natural History LUOMUS is an independent institute of the University of Helsinki and the national museum in the field of natural history in Finland. The museum’s duties are to amass, maintain and display its collections, and to conduct related research, particularly in the field of species-level biodiversity. The collections serve research, teaching, and public education in biology, geology, and biodiversity, and form part of the international network of natural history repositories. About the opportunity

Student Life is looking for a highly motivated and self-driven Senior Residential Life Coordinator to join their high performing team. In your new role, you will deliver Residential Life support and programs with students living in student accommodation settings. You will coordinate and deliver key activities throughout the year that aim to foster connection and belonging of student residents living in university-owned accommodation, colleges and affiliated residences. The activities that this role will support and embed includes academic, social, financial, health, mental health, cultural, educational, and other factors which can impact students' wellbeing and personal safety.

You will liaise with key stakeholders across the university and accommodation sites and ensure alignment and adherence to key policies and procedures relevant to the space. You will coordinate and enable student partnership with student residents and the integration of evaluation metrics to inform decision making. You will utilise strong project management and manage multiple streams of work and collaborate with teams in Student Life to help coordinate referrals and support as required.

You will be required to travel to the University-owned accommodation sites at Camperdown, Darlington and Kensington, and may need to travel to remote sites for particular activities.
