About the role

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) will provide vision and strategic leadership to help realise our ambitions for research performance, impact and engagement with industry, business, government and the community. Working with the University’s research community and breadth of stakeholders, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor will contribute to shaping a long-term strategy that will enhance the University’s research culture, performance and reputation as a partner of choice.

About you

Candidates will demonstrate the necessary academic credibility to engage colleagues, as well as the enterprise and commercial acumen to identify opportunities and deliver complex initiatives and projects. Candidates will also exhibit an appropriate record of research leadership and management experience commensurate with being part of a high performing university leadership team. Position Summary:
Susquehanna University invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to start in August 2025.Responsibilities primarily include teaching management classes with a specific focus on our senior capstone course, Business Policy and Strategy, which serves all majors in the Business School. The candidate will also need a secondary area of expertise in human resource management and/or international business.Responsibilities will also include formal and informal advising of students, rigorous scholarship, along with school and university service.

Required Qualifications:
An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Management or a related field. A record that illustrates current excellent teaching in the area of Strategic Management (Business Policy) and industry experience are required. This candidate will be expected to interact openly and inspire students through their teaching strategies which demonstrates a high level of organization and communication.Candidates will need to meet the School's definition of a Scholarly Academic and demonstrate they are an active academic scholar in a business (or related) discipline.To do this, a faculty must either have received his/her Ph.D. within the past 5 years or must have at least two publications in high quality peer-reviewed journals within the prior 5 years.Note: New Ph.D.'s are considered SA for five years after receiving their Ph.D. By the end of the fifth year, the faculty member must meet the general SA requirements.

The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Strathclyde is one of the largest and most successful engineering faculties in the UK, and the largest in Scotland. At the heart of this is the Faculty of Engineering, which boasts a growing research portfolio of nearly £150 million. The Department of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Marine Engineering is a world-leader in research.

As part of a significant Industry-University partnership involving the University of Strathclyde – Department of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Marine Engineering, Royal Caribbean Group and DNV Classification Society, a Maritime Safety Research Centre (MSRC) of Excellence is being set up.
MSRC seeks to employ a Research Associate to participate in an ongoing research project. The post holder will work on the EU-funded Horizon Europe project “Safe and Climate Resilient Ports-SAFARI”. The main aim of the project is to develop a versatile digital platform to enhance port infrastructure resilience against extreme weather events. This platform will connect large port communities by establishing strong communication channels between port stakeholders and infrastructures. It will be equipped with emergency management modules, supported by operational, maintenance, and analytical components. The appointee will join a multidisciplinary international team with industrial partners from France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Finland, Greece, Netherlands, Norway and the UK.

As a Research Associate, you will play a key role in this project as part of a team, working under the general supervision of senior colleagues. You will conduct literature reviews, collect and collate data, develop bespoke software tools, and run numerical CFD simulations. You should be able to architect and develop research software which is suitable and compliant with the marine industry standards. The ability to act as an independent researcher and contribute towards securing research funding. You should be able to manage a research team and research projects. A high level of proficiency in C++ is essential. A detailed knowledge of development/support of the following programming languages/toolsets is desirable: C# or Java,. NET, Python as well as Object Oriented and Parallel programming. You will have experience interacting with a variety of stakeholders, project partners, to lead the identification, development and implementation of IT improvements. You will have excellent troubleshooting skills, including a methodical approach to solving complex problems. You will have the capability to write required technical design documentation and test protocols. You will input as a team member to administrative activities and assist, where required, with relevant teaching and knowledge exchange activities.

To be considered for the role, you should have a good honours degree and PhD in the relevant engineering subjects. You will have knowledge of appropriate research methods, have an ability to plan and prioritise your own workload, with general supervision, and you will have an ability to work within a team environment. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to listen, engage and persuade, and to present complex information in an accessible way to a range of audiences and publish in high-impact factor journals.

Whilst not essential for the role, applications are welcomed from candidates with: a higher Degree in a relevant discipline, some relevant work experience, membership/working towards membership of a relevant Chartered/professional body (including the Higher Education Academy), experience of relevant student supervision and teaching activities and experience of knowledge exchange related activities.

The position is fixed for 18 months with the potential to extend it further.

King’s Legal Clinic aims to improve access to justice and educate King’s students by providing free legal advice to members of the public through its Legal Advice Clinic and working with local and international organisations on research and justice projects.

We are now seeking to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate to carry out research for the Refugee Family Reunion (RFR) project, an interdisciplinary project being led by the Dickson Poon School of Law’s award-winning  Legal  Clinic, King’s Legal Clinic in partnership  with DNA @ King’s, King’s Sanctuary Programme, and  Refugee Legal Support.

About the role

King’s Legal Clinic is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate to carry out research as part of the Refugee Family Reunion (RFR) project. The RFR project aims to improve the experience of refugee families seeking sanctuary to the UK through legal representation, research, policy, and education. Funded by One King’s Impact Fund, King’s Legal Clinic is leading a network of interdisciplinary partners from across and beyond King’s, including DNA @ King’s, King’s Sanctuary Programme,  and Refugee Legal Support.  The project aims to make the UK immigration system fairer and more compassionate through: 


	Establishing a pilot Clinic providing legal and DNA testing assistance to refugees in the UK 
	Conducting research to assess decision making at the Home Office
	Conducting research to improve the use of DNA evidence. 


The successful candidate will work with the DNA @ King’s, Directors of King’s Legal Clinic, Sanctuary Programme and partners, including Refugee Legal Support, Home Office and wider stakeholders in the project. 

The research associate’s main responsibilities will include, the development of research evaluation:   


	interpretation of DNA evidence by decision makers
	identify differences in the tests and reports provided by laboratories/agencies accredited by the Ministry of Justice
	transparency of capabilities of accredited laboratories/agencies offering accepted legal DNA reports
	transparency of official DNA guidance and how it is interpreted by decision makers
	transparency of the process from identifying and instructing DNA services through to Home Office evaluation
	accepted identification and supporting documents and accepted alternatives where families cannot provide these


The successful candidate will also be supported and expected to contribute to project-related engagement activities, including event organisation, conference and workshop participation, presentation of findings, and writing publications.

 We are looking for a candidate with knowledge and previous experience of: 


	research and report writing
	quantitative and qualitative research methods.
	Some knowledge/ experience in the following fields;  forensic genetics kinship testing, accreditation for DNA testing laboratories, use of DNA in support of applications, Human Tissue Authority Act legislation on consent, Home Office legal DNA testing and  sample collection guidance, political sociology and human geography. 


This is a part time post for 21 hours per week (3 days) on a fixed term contract until 31st July 2025, with the possibility of a further short extension of the contract. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will be based at the Waterloo Campus, King’s College London, able to work in a hybrid model. The post will involve travel to meetings at the Waterloo and Strand campuses.

	Undergraduate degree and PhD in related subjects. Additional research experience would be an advantage.
	Previous experience of conducting high quality desk-based and empirical research, including quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. 
	Demonstrable writing skills, including report writing.  
	Demonstrated ability to plan, troubleshoot own work and work to deadlines.  
	Good interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills, including ability to communicate well with colleagues and all stakeholders.   
	Understanding of the benefits and challenges of working in an interdisciplinary field. 
	Commitment to diversity and inclusion in alignment with King’s Guiding Principles 
	​competent in the use of MS Office. Experience with Clio would be an advantage but not essential 


​Desirable criteria 


	Demonstrable experience of working with a range of stakeholders on interdisciplinary research 


*Please note that this is a PhD level role but candidates who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting award of their PhDs will be considered. In these circumstances the appointment will be made at Grade 5, spine point 30 with the title of Research Assistant. Upon confirmation of the award of the PhD, the job title will become Research Associate, and the salary will increase to Grade 6.
