About the opportunity

The University of Sydney School of Health Sciences is seeking an outstanding Implementation Research Fellow (Level A or B) with strong mixed-methods research skills. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary implementation science research program in collaboration with the Sydney Health Partners Implementation Science Academy.

In this role, you will co-lead and contribute to implementation research projects focused on translating clinical practice guidelines into routine care, introducing policy changes at scale, and reducing unwarranted variation in care. These projects span clinical areas such as hip fracture management, cardiovascular genetics, and adherence to cardiometabolic medications, among others. You will design, conduct, and publish research in collaboration with our health service partners, involving qualitative interviews and focus groups, observational, quasi-experimental, and experimental studies, quantitative data collection and analysis, and systematic reviews. You will work with a team of researchers led by Dr. Mitchell Sarkies and liaise with a range of academics, research and administrative staff, and industry stakeholders.

Your key responsibilities will be to:


	conduct qualitative interviews and focus groups to develop implementation models incorporating clinical, policy, economic, and lived experience perspectives.
	undertake quantitative research and evaluation to assess the implementation of changes within the health system using observational, quasi-experimental, and experimental study designs.
	facilitate and contribute to strengthening the capability of project partners to use implementation science research and evaluation methods
	lead and contribute to academic publications in high quality journals, national and international conference presentations and other dissemination activities
	lead and contribute to applications for competitive research grant funding to deliver research impact
	co-supervise higher degree research students and contribute to a positive workplace culture that values diversity of thought, collaboration, excellence, and achieving outcomes
	undertake ad-hoc projects and other activities relevant to the role's key accountabilities as approved by the Manager and commensurate with the role's classification level.


About you


	a PhD in a relevant health-related field, such as clinical (medicine, nursing, allied health), health services, public health, human factors, implementation science, or psychology
	excellent communication skills with an ability to lead projects involving a range of healthcare stakeholders, including clinicians, policy makers, hospital executives, and patients
	demonstrated experience designing, conducting, analysing and publishing both qualitative and quantitative studies
	track record of peer reviewed publications in high quality journals and conference presentations
	demonstrated experience contributing to the academic life and administrative tasks of the broader workplace, with a track record of effective teamwork


Desirable


	experience with NVivo and statistical software packages (SPSS, STATA, SAS)
	understanding of implementation science in the Australian healthcare system
	demonstrated experience undertaking systematic reviews

About the Job

We have a vacancy for a temporary Researcher position (20 months) to conduct Earth System Modeling in the topic of land-based Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) using the Norwegian Earth System Model. 

The position will be part of the Horizon Europe project RESCUE, which comprises a large model intercomparison project to quantify the Earth system response to pathways achieving climate neutrality by CDR deployment. A special focus lies on Earth system feedbacks and aspects of reversibility and environmental risks under scenarios of temperature overshoot. The position will involve conduct simulations with the Norwegian Earth System Model, NorESM, perform analysis of multiple models, with a focus on the carbon cycle and the effects of afforestation and bioenergy with carbon capture and storage. The position offers the chance to be part of a dynamic team working at the frontier of Earth system science.  The team is strongly involved in large international collaborations such as CMIP and IPCC.

Your immediate leader is Associate Professor Hanna Lee at the Department of Biology and Research Professor Helene Muri at the Department of Energy and Process Engineering.

Duties of the position


	Further develop and implement methods for modelling land-based CDR in NorESM.
	Perform beyond state-of-the-art simulations of carbon dioxide removal with NorESM.
	Perform multi-model analysis.
	Take a leading role in the development of scientific publications.


Required selection criteria


	You must have completed a Norwegian doctoral degree or corresponding foreign doctoral degree recognized as equivalent to a Norwegian PhD in biology, physics, climate sciences, physical geography, or similar.
	If you can document that the PhD thesis has been submitted, your application can be assessed even if you have not yet defended your dissertation. Documentation of the obtained doctoral degree must be presented before you can take up the position. 
	Excellent programming skills (such as fortran, python).
	Experience in Earth system, atmosphere, land surface or vegetation modeling is mandatory, preferably NorESM or CESM.
	A thorough understanding of the global carbon cycle, and land – atmosphere interactions as well as CDR.
	A highly experienced and qualified candidate may be considered without a PhD as a lower-grade researcher position (code 1108).
	Excellent written and oral English skills. 


Preferred selection criteria


	Experience with modelling within the Earth System Modelling framework.
	Experience with HPC.
	Documented ability to work with large data.

Salary and conditions

As a researcher with a PhD (code 1109) or without a PhD (code 1108), you are remunerated depending on qualifications and seniority. From the salary, 2% is deducted as a contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.

The period of employment is 20 months.

The engagement is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants, and the acts relating to Control of the Export of Strategic Goods, Services and Technology. Candidates who by assessment of the application and attachment are seen to conflict with the criteria in the latter law will be prohibited from recruitment to NTNU.

The position is subject to external funding.

Description

The Design-for-Excellence laboratory in the Division of Engineering, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a research associate to work on the intersection of machine learning and hardware security.

The successful applicant will develop novel security mechanisms for graph neural networks. They will contribute to the design, implementation, and evaluation of innovative security solutions to safeguard graph neural network applications against potential threats. They will explore the use of large language models (LLMs) for chip design and security applications. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students and undergraduate students.

Applicants must have a PhD in electrical and/or computer engineering and postdoctoral research experience in both hardware security and machine learning.  In depth knowledge of chip design and FPGAs is also required.

About you
