Description

New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a Research Scientist to work within the newly established Abu Dhabi Precision Medicine Virtual Research Institute (ADPMVRI) supervised by Prof Bas Rokers. The Institute aims to develop a comprehensive research infrastructure - whereby diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment are tailored to each patient. The Institute will provide a set of platforms specific to the most common non-communicable diseases in Abu Dhabi, centered on biomarkers quantifying disease state, stratifying disease subtypes, and monitoring disease progression. In the context of brain health research, the Institute aims to identify markers predictive of perceptual and cognitive impairment in health conditions prevalent in the region, including diabetes, multiple sclerosis, obesity and normal vs. traumatic brain aging.

The appointed applicant is expected to develop and deploy solutions to handle the management and analysis of large amounts of neuroimaging, genomics, and health-related data. The ideal candidate must have a background in database management, neuroimaging and/or genomics data analytics, and machine learning and artificial intelligence applications. The candidate is expected to have programming experience with MATLAB, python, shell scripting, and UNIX/LINUX environments. Familiarity working within a high-performance computing environment is ideal.

To be considered, applicants must have received a PhD in Computer Science, Psychology, Neuroscience, mathematics, physics, Biology, Biomedical Engineering or a relevant STEM field. The Cyber Security & Privacy lab (CSP-laboratory) of Dr. Christina Pöpper, part of the Center for Cyber Security at New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate to work on the seminal topic of Cellular and Wireless Network Security: security & privacy in and for current and future mobile/cellular networks (5G), including nextG systems, terrestrial, and satellite-based systems.  Although a postdoctoral candidate will be preferred, this position may also be filled by a research engineer or research assistant in well justified cases.

The CSP-laboratory conducts cutting-edge research in communication and cyber security and privacy, in particular on


	Security and privacy in mobile telephony networks (5G, 6G, ORAN)
	Security in satellite-based and airborne communication
	Security and privacy in wireless systems
	Anonymous or privacy-preserving communication


The successful applicant will drive a fascinating project on the topic of security and privacy in 5G and next generation wireless/cellular networks.  Our research group has made and contributed to important security investigations and offensive work on the specification, implementation, and deployment side of cellular networks. This includes the identification of security weaknesses and vulnerabilities in 4G and 5G networks with a focus on the traffic between user equipment and base stations on multiple layers of the protocol stack and the development of automated security testing frameworks. The successful applicant is expected to build upon previous work and extend it in novel directions, e.g., focusing on location privacy aspects, the defensive side, or other aspects in the overall 5G/nextG ecosystem, which may include but are not limited to physical-layer communication, rich communication services, signaling communication, authentication, end-to-end encryption, RAN intelligent controllers, etc. Conceptual and practical work on the topic is expected to be made. Research methodologies will include experimental work with existing 5G equipment in our lab; additional expertise in software development, NLP or ML/AI will be beneficial. The candidate will work in an international and diverse environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students, and undergraduate students. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join ongoing international collaborations.

Applicants for the postdoctoral position must have a PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cyber Security or closely related fields. Excellent experimental skills relevant to the project are required.

We are seeking to recruit a qualified Counsellor, Psychotherapist or Counselling Psychologist (BACP, UKCP or BPS registered, or eligible for such) to join our established multidisciplinary team working with students with wide ranging and sometimes complex issues. The role is offered on a part time, 3-day-a-week basis, for a 0.6 Full time Equivalent.

About 70% of our sessions are ‘One at a Time’, and we also support students with brief counselling contracts, and sometimes over the longer term, both face to face and via video. Some counsellors also offer phone, email and IM counselling, but this is optional.

Dr. Zuzana Holubcová lab (Department of Histology and Embryology in Masaryk University Campus Brno) studies multiple aspects of mammalian oocyte and embryo development with a special focus on human reproductive biology and assisted reproduction. The research has a strong translational impact due to long-standing collaboration with local reproductive medicine centres and strong links to IVF professionals.

The successful candidate should:


	Hold a Ph.D. or its equivalent, awarded within the past 7 years, AND have worked in research for at least 2 years of work, within the last 3 years, outside the Czech Republic (with a workload equivalent to at least 0.5 full-time employment)
	Alternatively, hold a Ph.D. diploma (or equivalent) from an international institution awarded within the past 3 years
	Demonstrate a publication record that includes a minimum of three research outputs (articles) within the past three years, surpassing the field's median standards, with at least two of them ranked in Q1 according to Web of Science.


Specific qualifications include:
