Programme Administrator – Academic Administration

Academic Administration is looking to recruit for the role of Programme Administrator (grade 2b, 1 FTE) within the Academic Administration team.

The role will involve providing professional administrative support for the Academic Administration Team supporting students and academic staff.

The post holder will need to be flexible and be able to maintain good working relationships across the University, including academic and professional services staff based within Faculties and within the CSO, such as the Exams and Graduation Team and Student Scheduling based within the Student and Academic Administration Department.

The post holder will be responsible for a variety of tasks and processes to support the student life cycle. The role holder will demonstrate a commitment to our shared vision and service standards.

This is a role for an exceptionally organised individual with excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritise to meet often conflicting deadlines. The ability to learn quickly will be essential whilst a working knowledge of assessment processes will be extremely helpful.

Are you passionate about Design and Creative Media? We have an exciting opportunity for a Programme Coordinator/Senior Lecturer to join our team. This role combines programme coordination and academic management, with a focus on supporting Māori and Pacific communities. As Programme Coordinator, you will oversee course planning, curriculum quality, and student success for Foundation courses in Art and Design, and Digital Media and Design.  As a Senior Lecturer, you will prepare, deliver, and assess subjects, support students, and engage in professional development and research. Day-to-day accountabilities:  

The Programme Coordinator/Senior Lecturer role involves: 


	Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Foundation Department. 
	Supporting the academic team, deliver lectures, and develop teaching materials. 
	Serve as a resource and mentor for junior academic staff, providing guidance on teaching practices and curriculum. 
	Identify and support at-risk students by making appropriate referrals to support staff and resources. 
	Implement culturally responsive teaching practices that acknowledge and celebrate Māori and Pacific identities, values, and learning styles. 
	Foster connections with relevant industry contacts to maintain subject relevance and provide students with exposure to industry practices. 
	Engage in ongoing development of cultural competency in tikanga Māori, Te Reo Māori, and Pacific cultures. 
	Actively uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi by fostering a learning environment based on Partnership, Protection and Participation. 
	Contribute to research and scholarly work within the discipline, aligning with the organisation’s strategic goals.

About you 

Essential: 


	A minimum of a master's qualification in design, creative media or related discipline.  
	At least five years of experience in higher education in the field of design, creative media or related discipline. 
	Proven experience in applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles in a professional or educational setting. 
	Experience working with Māori and Pacific communities and understanding of their unique educational and cultural needs. 
	A high service ethos towards students to support their learning. 
	Experience with Canvas (LMS), in particular Editor and HTML/CSS 
	Māori and/or Pasifika whakapapa and/or a lived Māori or Pacific experience.  


Desirable:  


	Proficiency of Te Reo Māori or a Pasifika language is advantageous. 
	Where applicable, a demonstrated track record of high-quality research outcomes through traditional publications, conferences and/or non-traditional research outcomes. 
	Where applicable, evidence of applying for research grants. 
	Where applicable, evidence of research that is applicable to industry or in collaboration with industry partners.

The School of Arts and Humanities (SAH) at Edith Cowan University exists to advance social justice in the world and to improve the quality of life for all. The seven priority concerns for SAH are care, climate change, decolonisation, digital futures, intersectional inclusion, global transformation, and storytelling.  

Our Climate Justice research community undertakes feminist participatory action research alongside First Nations communities, people with Lived Experience and civil society organisations. This program is embedded in ECU’s Strategic Research Centre for People, Place and Planet (CPPP). The CPPP aims to reconnect people, ecosystems, and place-based knowledges for universal well-being. The CPPP mission is to conduct transdisciplinary research using participatory methodologies in the context of global environmental change. CPPP research and action is co-designed with Indigenous knowledge holders to transform human-environment relations through place-based, just and collaborative processes.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to join our team. This position offers a unique opportunity to take a leading role in the development and management of our feminist participatory action research for climate justice. 

A key project focuses on enhancing climate justice and disaster resilience in the Western Australian community services sector. This project is a partnership between Edith Cowan University, WA community service organisations (CSOs), Aboriginal Traditional Owners and people with Lived Experience. Collectively, we are developing an online Climate Justice and Resilience Toolkit for the WA community service sector. This Toolkit will provide publicly available resources and tools to support CSOs to embed climate justice and disaster resilience in their operations, policies, programs and practices. As a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow within this project, you will work alongside CSOs to develop, implement, document and analyse strategies for climate justice and disaster resilience within the organisations. You will work closely with the project’s Aboriginal Steering Group, Lived Experience Advisory Group, Stakeholder Committee and academic team.

You will also contribute to the development of other community-based projects for research and action in climate justice.

You will also demonstrate personal attributes that are congruent with the University’s values of Integrity, Respect, Rational Inquiry, Personal Excellence and Courage. 

Responsibilities


	Facilitate participatory action research with community service organisations about climate justice and disaster resilience
	Collaborate with community and academic partners to develop and manage projects in climate justice
	Write grant applications to secure funding for new initiatives
	Co-author manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals
	Conduct comprehensive qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis
	Perform additional duties as required to support the team’s goals


Requirements


	PhD in an appropriate discipline
	Proven experience in participatory action research, preferably research that is feminist, anti-colonial, and place-based and particularly in the climate justice field
	Knowledge of climate change in WA, the relationship between climate change and social justice, and the community services sector
	Demonstrated experience of working collectively with Aboriginal communities and/or diverse peoples with Lived Experience, including appropriate protocols for engagement
	Excellent writing skills with a track record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals
	Demonstrated capacity to secure research funding
	Excellent analytical skills with experience in both qualitative and quantitative data analysis
	Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage a variety of audiences and translate research to address the needs and priorities for communities and/or organisations
	Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a transdisciplinary team and with external community partners, and in building relationships with diverse groups of people


Benefits & Remuneration

This part time, fixed term position attracts remuneration of $113,918 to $134,596 per annum (pro rata) plus 17% University superannuation contribution.

Are you a PhD with enthusiasm towards programming, computer architectures and microprocessor development? Here is an opportunity for you to join the microprocessor development activities of Aalto Microelectronics Research Center (https://metka.aalto.fi). 

RISC-V is an open-source microprocessor instruction set, which is gaining interest in academia and industry. In Aalto, Department of Electronics and nanoengineering, we have developed our own open-source RISC-V core implementation that we can use as a controller in our mixed-mode System-on-Chip designs.  

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to work with us on this area of research. In this position we provide the possibility for hands-on development of your ideas in processor design as a member of our RISC-V design team within the scope of the projects you will be affiliated with. 

Topic focuses on improving current RISC-V implementation and merging it with digital and analog signal processing and cryptography accelerators and sensor interfaces advancing to implementation on silicon or verification on FPGA according to your preferences. The position is appropriate for PhDs eager to reach to state-of-the-art, with enthusiasm to go where very few have gone before. 

The successful execution of the work requires willingness to learn fluent Unix working habits, Git version control, shell scripting, Python, and Scala/Chisel programming, complemented with doctoral level knowledge of digital and analog design tools and methodology. Minimum entry criteria is D.Sc. or PhD degree in microelectronics design or computer science and working proficiency in English.
