Evangel University Akaeze is a Christian university in Nigeria’s Ebonyi State, and was established in 2012. It gained full accreditation from the National Universities Commission in 2016. Across its four colleges, Evangel provides higher education across the fields of art and science.
Evangel University has four main colleges, including: science, health sciences, management sciences, and arts and social science. Across this range, students can choose to study a wide variety of degree programmes, including mass communication, economics, marketing, accounting, physiotherapy, and microbiology.
The university’s Entrepreneurship Unit encourages students to develop their skills and confidence in innovation and idea creation. The team of life coaches, business mentors, entrepreneurs and lecturers follow a curriculum that fosters an entrepreneurial mindset, covering topics such as opportunity identification, business communication, digital opportunities, and business ethics.
Like many Nigerian higher education institutions, students applying to study at Evangel University must sit the matriculation exam and obtain a minimum score of 140.
The university’s campus is located in Nigeria’s Ebonyi State, nicknamed the ‘Salt of the Nation’. The primary language spoken is Igbo, however there are many dialects spoken and English is widely spoken at the university.
