About

Basic information and contact details for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

institution

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University was founded in 1925 as a dedicated aeronautics training centre and flight school.

It exists today as a university specialising in subjects relating to aviation and the military, and operates major campuses in both Phoenix, Arizona and Daytona Beach, Florida (the latter being Embry-Riddle’s original campus).

Traditionally, the university has had its biggest focus on flight training and aircraft-related degree courses, but has diversified its academic profile considerably over recent years, and now offers courses in more generalised fields such as management and intelligence analysis. Master's and PhD programs, most of which are related to aviation fields, are also available for further study, and students have access to a number of research and teaching labs covering a range of theoretical and practical disciplines.

As well as this, Embry-Riddle maintains a number of long-standing partnerships with numerous big players in private industry, and is also actively involved in public projects.

Aside from academic resources, the university’s Daytona Beach campus also now plays host to a number of recreational areas, including an extensive array of sports facilities such as swimming pools, a football field, and a gym. In addition, student societies cater to a wide variety of interests, and the university has a number of options in terms of accommodation and dining facilities.

The university’s most famous alumni have primarily made a name for themselves in aerospace-related fields, including NASA astronauts such as Daniel Burbank and Alvin Drew, and Iowa representative Kraig Paulsen.
