Don Bosco University is a private, Catholic, non-profit research institution established in 2008 by the Salesians of Don Bosco, a Catholic religious order founded by Saint Don Bosco.
The university was largely set up to cater the needs of the people of North East India, especially with the aim of developing the skills of the population through tertiary education.
The university is located in Guwahati in the Indian state of Assam, and is the first private sector university in the state. Don Bosco University is a member of The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) as well as the International Association of Universities (IAU) and is accredited by India’s top higher education regulatory bodies like the University Grant Commission.
The university offers academic programmes ranging from undergraduate courses to research PhD programmes and distant learning. The major disciplines offered by the university include engineering, management and social sciences.
In the last few years extensive emphasis has been laid on developing the institution into a full-fledged research university in its own right.
There are four main campuses of the Don Bosco University, the major one being the Tapesia campus, which is spread over 300 acres and consists of state-of-the-art learning facilities and infrastructures.
Enterprise Resource Planning, Entrepreneurship Development and Incubation Centre and Language labs are among the salient extra-curricular opportunities the university offers to facilitate the overall development of their students. In addition, there are a wide variety of games, sports and co-curricular activities the students can participate to make the best of their university life.
