The RTG 2767 aims to train a new generation of experts who will design materials made of supracolloidal structures from the drawing board to application in components. Supracolloidal structures are complex superstructures composed of different nanoparticles, similar to how atoms are linked to molecules. This results in innovative, exceptionally promising optical and electronic properties that go far beyond those of the individual building blocks. To date, these structure-property relationships of the assembled particles are not adequately understood. The technological visions of these new materials include novel solar cells, field amplification for highly sensitive spectroscopy, biosensing applications where complex detection processes are made simpler, and even on-site sample examination using smartphones. Participating institutions: TUD Dresden University of Technology (TUD), the Universität Leipzig, Leibniz Institute for Polymer Research Dresden, and the Helmholtz-Center Dresden-Rossendorf.

Research Associate / PhD Student (m/f/x)

(subject to personal qualifications employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

starting April 1, 2025. The position is limited until September 30, 2026 with the option of extension until March 31, 2028 if the phase-out funding is approved or approval of a new funding period. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz-WissZeitVG). The position aims at obtaining further academic qualifications (usually PhD).

Terms: 65 % of the full-time weekly hours
Tasks: Advancing relativistic ab initio methods for predicting structural and spectroscopic properties of heavy-element nanocrystals
Requirements: excellent university degree (Master degree or diploma) in physics / chemistry / material science, preferentially with theoretical background. We are looking for a motivated candidate, who is interested in electronic-structure theory and code development. Basic programming skills are expected.

Position Summary:
The Department of English & Creative Writing at Susquehanna University invites applications for a tenure track position as an Assistant or Associate Professor specializing in digital publishing and writing, beginning in August 2025. Rank is dependent upon credentials and experience. Teaching responsibilities include introduction to modern publishing and the capstone course exploring the cultural and social functions of publishing, which serve our English-Publishing and Editing major; and first-year composition and introductory literature or genre surveys that serve the university's Central Curriculum. The successful candidate will also design and teach new undergraduate courses in digital publishing and editing, multimodal composition, and topics emerging from the candidate's research. The standard teaching load is 3/3.Demonstrated success or evidence of potential to excel in teaching and advising undergraduates is essential, as is a promising research or editorial agenda in their field. This agenda could be in any area related to publishing, for example, trade, scholarly, independent, or experimental publishing; technology, computational techniques, and altmetrics; distribution and business issues; technical writing, software development, and coding; library and information science; or the digital creation and circulation of public knowledge. The Department of English & Creative Writing is a vibrant literary community that produces Modern Language Studies and multiple student publications. We have thriving programs in Publishing and Editing, Creative Writing, Literature, and Secondary Education, with interdisciplinary collaborations across all four Schools, including Business and Sciences. We strongly value individual initiative, student mentoring, experiential learning, and a collegial and diverse community.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in English, Rhetoric and Composition, Professional or Technical Writing, or a related field in Digital Humanities, Publishing Studies, Digital Media Studies, Library and Information Science, or an adjacent field. We will also consider MFAs in related fields.

What will I be doing?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Research Associate to join the School of Global Development to research climate resilient development. You will work as part of an interdisciplinary research team across the CLimate Adaptation and REsilience (CLARE) research programme exploring critical issues related to climate adaptation. 

That sounds really interesting, but can you provide a bit more information?

You will define, design and lead the work on climate resilient development across the CLARE research programme. You will be based within the SUCCESS research project but work across the portfolio of projects funded under the CLARE programme. Your specific responsibilities are to synthesise the research and knowledge on climate resilient development that is being generated within the CLARE programme. Within this role you will be expected to make significant contributions to new knowledge. You will also be expected to foster strong research partnerships, strengthen capacity and pursue research impact in support of transformational change. 

That sounds great, but do I have the right attributes for the role?

You will have:


	A postgraduate level qualification and experience in a relevant research area
	A track record of independent research supported by publications in respected journals. 
	Strong research and analysis skills and be comfortable working with qualitative or quantitative data.


Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are a must as the project works in a variety of contexts and geographies. Experience of climate adaptation within the global south is desirable. 

This full-time post is available from 3 March 2025 on a fixed-term basis for 21 months.

About the opportunity

Student Life is looking for a highly motivated and self-driven Senior Residential Life Coordinator to join their high performing team. In your new role, you will deliver Residential Life support and programs with students living in student accommodation settings. You will coordinate and deliver key activities throughout the year that aim to foster connection and belonging of student residents living in university-owned accommodation, colleges and affiliated residences. The activities that this role will support and embed includes academic, social, financial, health, mental health, cultural, educational, and other factors which can impact students' wellbeing and personal safety.

You will liaise with key stakeholders across the university and accommodation sites and ensure alignment and adherence to key policies and procedures relevant to the space. You will coordinate and enable student partnership with student residents and the integration of evaluation metrics to inform decision making. You will utilise strong project management and manage multiple streams of work and collaborate with teams in Student Life to help coordinate referrals and support as required.

You will be required to travel to the University-owned accommodation sites at Camperdown, Darlington and Kensington, and may need to travel to remote sites for particular activities.
