Chung Hua University is a private university located in Hsinchu City, Taiwan, and was founded in 1990 by three local entrepreneurs. They aimed to provide technological education and promote higher education, while contributing to the development of local industries. Chung Hua University’s core values are to foster a spirit of diligence, integrity, compassion and innovation.
The university implemented the universal education of innovation and creation, as students are required to study courses while completing practical projects. This is in line with the view that students will gain strength in innovative thinking to aid their future careers.
The university has six colleges in total: architecture and design; computer science and informatics; engineering, humanities and social sciences; management, and tourism. CHU offers four bachelor degree programmes, 16 master’s degree programmes, three PhD programs, as well as 17 placement advanced study programmes.
The campus itself is located alongside one of the city’s most famous scenic areas, the Green Grass Lake, allowing students to be surrounded by natural beauty. Students can enjoy on-campus access to the athletic field, swimming pool, basketball court and gymnasium, as well as two lakes and a student centre.
Hsinchu City, translated to New Bamboo in English, is a coastal city located in Northern Taiwan. It holds great economic significance through the Hsinchu Science Park, a world-renowned centre for semiconductor manufacturing. The city is also significant for education, with six universities based in the city, with the opportunity for students from the different universities to meet and network.
The city has various attractions on offer to students, from the CKS baseball stadium, to the fish harbor and Chenghuang Temple night market.
