The Student Process Improvement and Support team works to help programme administrators across all parts of King’s, through enquiry management, training and support, working with colleagues to devise and deliver service improvements and support core activities across some of our central functions.

We are part of the Students & Education Directorate, a collection of wide-ranging professional services in place to support King’s students and their education. As a directorate we manage the student lifecycle from application to graduation and beyond, to ensure a coherent and seamless student experience and effective administrative processes, working closely with King’s faculties to do so.

About the role

The Business Process Support Manager (Knowledge & Enquiries) will oversee the consistent delivery and expansion of the enquiry management service. You will maintain oversight of the day to day running of the service, empowering Senior Officers to manage and assign workloads for the team, and ensuring enquiries devolved to other teams are managed within agreed timeframes. Your data analysis skills will enable you to provide regular assessment of key challenges, and service and process improvement opportunities.  You will lead on customer feedback, working with colleagues in Faculty, Student Operations and Service Delivery to provides updates to service leads including delivery against service level standards.

This is an exciting opportunity for candidates looking to expand their knowledge of service management who wish to contribute to a functioning self-service ecosystem. You will have experience of and skills in customer service, issue resolution and service planning, and an interest in process review. This is an opportunity to develop skills in stakeholder management in a large and varied institution and gain knowledge and experience of change management.

Please note, this is not a student facing role; the role supports programme administration teams across the university.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria


	Relevant work experience and/or education: We think a wide range of different work and educational experiences could support you to be successful in this role. Relevant work experience might include leading or supervising a team in a customer service setting, issue resolution, supervising programme administration teams or data analysis. Relevant educational experiences might include higher education in a related discipline, professional qualifications or other training.
	Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders in a professional and assured manner – to understand their needs and facilitate discussion.
	The ability to extract, analyse and present complex numerical data to a range of audiences, for the purposes of day-to-day service management and to support stakeholder engagement and service development.
	Experience of using the Microsoft Office suite including TEAMS, SharePoint and Excel, experience of using databases and ability to learn new systems quickly and competently.
	Experience of addressing complaints and service setbacks in a professional and efficient manner.
	Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate and distribute information clearly. Contribute to team discussions with confidence but give others space to speak.
	Sound knowledge of the sensitive nature of personal data, and the importance of compliance with Data Protection Legislation (by both yourself, and your team).
	Take responsibility for your own learning and development, ensuring any specific training needed for your role is undertaken.


Desirable criteria


	ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) qualification would be beneficial in this role.
	Experience of leading a team of staff, experience of managing change, setting standards and developing high performing teams with a development focused and proactive style would be beneficial in this role.
	Knowledge of the student lifecycle and related university programme administration processes would be beneficial role.

About you 


	PhD in an academic field relevant to the discipline.
	Excellent knowledge of plant nutrition, including robust experimental approaches for investigating nutrient responses in the glasshouse and in the field.
	Excellent hands-on experience in novel techniques for investigating soil-plant-microbe interactions in relation to plant nutrition at the molecular, glasshouse and/or field scale.
	An excellent track record of original research and/or industry impact in agriculture relevant to the position, including high-quality publications as lead author
	Strong track record of successful supervision or co-supervision of Honours, Masters and PhD student research projects/dissertations.

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to support collaborative projects within the Centre for Vision, Speech, and Signal Processing (CVSSP) and the Surrey Institute for People-Centred Artificial Intelligence (PAI). This is a part time (21.6 hours/week), fixed term role up to January 2028.

The Role

This post will have particular responsibility for “Noise Network Plus”, a collaboration between the Universities of Surrey, Bath, Salford, and City St George's University of London, and funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). Noise Network Plus aims to bringing together diverse teams and stakeholders, promote inclusive dialogue and co-design innovative solutions, to build unprecedented research capabilities to tackle the complex challenge of reducing noise and its impacts on people, the environment and the economy.

The candidate must have prior experience as a project manager and demonstrate relevant skills in planning, preparation, execution, and reporting of projects to ensure the operational aspects are clearly defined and achieved within the timelines, cost and quality guidelines. The Noise Network Plus will be hosting multiple events such as grant writing and impact workshops, summer schools and stakeholder engagement meetings. As such, event organisation experience is essential.

In addition to this post, CVSSP and PAI are seeking to recruit several posts to support new projects, including researchers project managers. Other similar part time roles are foreseen, and there will likely be the option to make this a full-time post if the candidate wishes to, but this is not essential.

You will join an established research group within a highly rated research centre, with an excellent computing and software infrastructure for first class research, modern facilities and close links with industry. The Centre for Vision, Speech and Signal Processing (CVSSP) is an International Centre of Excellence for research in Audio-Visual Machine Perception. The Centre has state-of-the-art acoustic capture and analysis facilities and a Visual Media Lab with video and audio capture facilities supporting research in real-time video and audio processing and visualisation. The Surrey Institute for People Centred AI (PAI) builds on 38 years of work into foundational AI in CVSSP, which is ranked 1st in the UK for Computer Vision and in the top-5 for both Audio-Visual AI and Robotics (CS Rankings, Sept 2024).

About the role

Projects & Processes 


	Implement and manage an External Engagement activity calendar that represents each function’s activities and major cross-functional and faculty deliverables through the year.  
	To provide project support to cross-team projects as required.  
	Working with relevant colleagues, plan and implement a process to gather data on academic travel plans.
	Provide dedicated support to the partnerships team, such as scheduling meetings with external partners and clients, researching companies and individuals ahead of meetings, desk research on companies or sectors.
	To work with the School’s operations team, and EE Functions, to design and maintain a team SharePoint site, keeping it updated with key documents and well-organised.  
	To provide co-ordination and diary management (as required) for cross-team projects that involve several External Engagement functions working collaboratively at the same time.
	To provide administrative support to the School’s Advisory Council, External Relations Committee and other leadership meetings as required.
	To become a competent user of the School’s CRM system and PowerBI; and to provide support to functional leads to access management information from both.
	To organise, update and provide ownership of the School’s ‘contact list’ of internal (KBS & KCL) and external relationships via the CRM.


General Administration 


	Provide co-ordination of all merchandise orders for the External Engagement team and, where necessary, support colleagues in other functions.  
	Working with the School’s Operations team, set up systems to manage the team’s financial administration, including raising POs, monitoring invoices, commitments and payments against budgets and purchasing cards;
	Administration of HR matters – from preparing candidate packs to onboarding new staff. 
	Working with colleagues and existing information sources, create and maintain a stock of ‘About Us’ information and particularly a PowerPoint deck highlighting key (and accurate) information about the School.  
	To manage the King’s Business School inbox, triaging emails as required


Team Co-ordination 


	Support the Director, Partnerships & External Engagement with management of the School’s Advisory Council, External Relations Committee, weekly team meetings, away days and regular team activities. 
	Provide co-ordination and delivery support for multi-stakeholder meetings across the External Engagement function, with a particular focus on meetings with external clients and partners – to include diary management and the distribution of papers, agendas and biographies as required.
	To manage and deliver travel arrangements for team and school-wide delegations as required at times supporting colleagues from different teams and functions as required.
	Support functional events and activities as required.
