About the team:

The research group Scientific Computing, led by Prof. Siegfried Benkner, focuses on research in programming paradigms, languages, compilers, and software and hardware infrastructures for scientific computing to support users in the process of solving increasingly complex compute- and data-intensive problems in science and engineering on high-end parallel and distributed computing platforms.
The selected candidate will participate in an international and interdisciplinary research project under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Atakan Aral.  The project aims to ensure seamless and reliable monitoring of critical infrastructures (e.g., facilities for water supply and electricity generation) through real-time and distributed processing of IoT sensor data. The project team will include doctoral and master’s students in our group, as well as international partners from the University of Sheffield, UK, and University College Dublin, Ireland.

Your future tasks:

Active participation in research and administration, which means:


	You develop an independent research profile in the field of distributed systems.
	You get involved in the research and management of the EU project mentioned above.
	You supervise the research conducted by master’s and doctoral students.
	You engage with colleagues from adjacent fields and collaborate on interdisciplinary research.
	You publish internationally and give lectures.
	You apply for projects and raise third-party funds.


This is a purely research-oriented position with no teaching duties, unless the candidate specifically requests them, in which case additional compensation will be provided.

These are your qualifications:


	You have completed doctoral/PhD studies in Computer Science or a closely related field, or you expect to complete them by 31.12.2024.
	You have established experience in distributed systems, ideally in the areas of the Internet of Things, Edge/Cloud Computing, Edge AI/Federated Learning, or Sensor Networks, with a focus on resource management, latency/performance optimization, fault tolerance, scalability, or energy efficiency/sustainability.
	You have research competence and initiative proven through international publications in reputable conferences and journals.
	You have excellent written and spoken English skills, demonstrated by high-quality academic writing and communication. (Our working language is English.)
	You are experienced in research management and leading project staff.
	You are a team player with strong social/communicative skills.

Job description

A vacancy has become available in our busy café which serves our students and staff. We have 4 cafés within the University, and you will play a key role in creating a welcoming atmosphere for our customers while ensuring they receive outstanding service.

The role will include serving hot and cold food to customers, having excellent product knowledge and upselling products. You will work alongside a professional and diverse team.

You must have previous experience of working in a catering environment with both front of house and back of house experience, excellent customer service skills and relevant Food Hygiene certification.

The post-holder will be expected to work flexibly to meet the demands of the service.

This role is 23.75 hours per week, 36 weeks per year.

We are looking for highly skilled mental health professionals with experience in supporting those with complex mental health needs.

Our well-established service is on a journey through an exciting period of transformation and you will work within a committed and supportive multi-disciplinary team made up of mental health nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, eating disorder therapists and counsellors. You will play a lead role in supporting the service and the wider University to offer proactive and compassionate mental health support to our entire student and staff community.

Within this role you will be working with the Wellbeing team to develop a service to meet the changing needs of students with mental health concerns to bring about evidence based improvements to the service provision. (This is a part time contract at 0.6 FTE/ 21.6 hours per week)

POSTDOC POSITION in Reproductive Biology

Dr. Zuzana Holubcová lab (Department of Histology and Embryology in Masaryk University Campus Brno) studies multiple aspects of mammalian oocyte and embryo development with a special focus on human reproductive biology and assisted reproduction. The research has a strong translational impact due to long-standing collaboration with local reproductive medicine centres and strong links to IVF professionals.

The successful candidate should:


	Hold a Ph.D. or its equivalent, awarded within the past 7 years, AND have worked in research for at least 2 years of work, within the last 3 years, outside the Czech Republic (with a workload equivalent to at least 0.5 full-time employment)
	Alternatively, hold a Ph.D. diploma (or equivalent) from an international institution awarded within the past 3 years
	Demonstrate a publication record that includes a minimum of three research outputs (articles) within the past three years, surpassing the field's median standards, with at least two of them ranked in Q1 according to Web of Science.


Specific qualifications include:


	Exhibit a genuine passion for scientific exploration and a deep-seated curiosity
	While prior experience with oocyte/embryo/stem cells research is beneficial, it is not a mandatory requirement

Description

The Center for Behavioral Institutional Design (C-BID), New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a research scientist/ senior research scientist to support the center in conducting applied research in behavioral social science, undertaken in collaboration with local public and private partners. The research scientist/ senior research scientist will contribute to advancing the design of scientifically informed institutions and policies that have local impact, and improve economic outcomes and welfare.

The ideal candidate will be a well-trained, self-motivated, hard-working, professional, equally capable of working alone and as part of a team, and hold a PhD in Economics with at least 5 years’ experience in their field along with extensive research and publication in well-known journals and conference paper. The position requires expertise in experimental, empirical, and/or theoretical methods. Candidates with research experience in the private or public sector are also encouraged to apply. Excellent communication skills in English, the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, and scientific creativity are essential.

Successful applicants are expected to work in the behavioral policy cluster of the center to design policy and institutions in close collaboration with the C-BID team (Nikos Nikiforakis, John Wooders, Olivier Bochet, and Ernesto Reuben) and the center's numerous partners.

The position provides a salary higher than internationally competitive rates for research scientist positions, in addition to substantial benefits (generous housing, transportation and travel allowances, educational subsidies for children), together with full health insurance and retirement contributions.
