Budapest Business School is the largest university of applied sciences in Hungary. Originally founded in 1857 as the Pest Academy of Commerce, it is the oldest public business school in the world.
When the cities of Buda and Pest merged, it was renamed Budapest Academy of Commerce. The academy was a private business school until 1949 when it was secularised by the government. In 2000 it became Budapest Business School.

The university is organised into three faculties: faculty of international management and business, faculty of finance and accountancy, and the faculty of commerce, hospitality and tourism. Within each faculty are a number of departments, all of which offer degree programmes at both undergraduate and graduate degree level.
The university offers six undergraduate and three master’s courses in English, German and French.
The university has so far developed partnerships with 200 institutions around the world with which it collaborates on a range of academic and scientific projects.
