Experience with a wide range of modeling and fabrication techniques which may include: clay, wood, metal, plastics and found objects; mold making; and familiarity with digital technology and new media. Essential Responsibilities Include: Ability to teach undergraduate ceramic and sculpture students applied lessons at all levels. Responsible for studio maintenance and supervision of the ceramics/woodshop facilities. Work closely with faculty and staff on the maintenance of classrooms and purchasing. Work with VISU faculty and the Environmental, Health, &amp; Safety Coordinator maintain safety procedures and policies for classrooms and equipment. Mentor work study students to work in the woodshop and clay studio. Serve as academic advisor and creative mentor to a diverse body of students. Contribute to curriculum development and program assessment efforts. Participate actively in university and department committees, as needed. The Center for Behavioral Institutional Design (C-BID), New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a research scientist/ senior research scientist to support the center in conducting applied research in behavioral social science, undertaken in collaboration with local public and private partners. The research scientist/ senior research scientist will contribute to advancing the design of scientifically informed institutions and policies that have local impact, and improve economic outcomes and welfare.

The ideal candidate will be a well-trained, self-motivated, hard-working, professional, equally capable of working alone and as part of a team, and hold a PhD in Economics with at least 5 years’ experience in their field along with extensive research and publication in well-known journals and conference paper. The position requires expertise in experimental, empirical, and/or theoretical methods. Candidates with research experience in the private or public sector are also encouraged to apply. Excellent communication skills in English, the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, and scientific creativity are essential.

Successful applicants are expected to work in the behavioral policy cluster of the center to design policy and institutions in close collaboration with the C-BID team (Nikos Nikiforakis, John Wooders, Olivier Bochet, and Ernesto Reuben) and the center's numerous partners.

The position provides a salary higher than internationally competitive rates for research scientist positions, in addition to substantial benefits (generous housing, transportation and travel allowances, educational subsidies for children), together with full health insurance and retirement contributions. The role

To research and develop software modules, tools and API for a project that aims to create a secure decentralised data marketplace based on distributed ledger technology, web technologies and AI.

The role will focus on developing solutions to address barriers to information and data exchange such as data quality and interoperability, and efficient processing and management of time-series datasets and metadata originating from IoT sources (such as environment sensors and meters) closer to the data provider at the edge, rather than the cloud, which will require innovation in compute efficiency and scalability. 

The role will also focus on IoT data engineering, analysis and management, improve data quality through data and machine learning processing pipelines. It will also focus on developing AI algorithms for semantically enriching data assets with domain knowledge, which feed into building knowledge graphs, search and discovery mechanisms.

The outputs will be integrated and validated against a set of real-world IoT use cases.

About you

A talent for technical problem solving is a must. You will encounter a wide range of technologies and data and will be given many opportunities to develop further your skills.

You will be responsible in contributing to iterative deliverables for the project such as technical reports, software integrations and source code releases. You will also be expected to travel abroad for project meetings and dissemination events. This is a collaborative project and will require you to actively liaise with other organisations.

Description

New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a Research Scientist to work within the newly established Abu Dhabi Precision Medicine Virtual Research Institute (ADPMVRI) supervised by Prof Bas Rokers. The Institute aims to develop a comprehensive research infrastructure - whereby diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment are tailored to each patient. The Institute will provide a set of platforms specific to the most common non-communicable diseases in Abu Dhabi, centered on biomarkers quantifying disease state, stratifying disease subtypes, and monitoring disease progression. In the context of brain health research, the Institute aims to identify markers predictive of perceptual and cognitive impairment in health conditions prevalent in the region, including diabetes, multiple sclerosis, obesity and normal vs. traumatic brain aging.

The appointed applicant is expected to develop and deploy solutions to handle the management and analysis of large amounts of neuroimaging, genomics, and health-related data. The ideal candidate must have a background in database management, neuroimaging and/or genomics data analytics, and machine learning and artificial intelligence applications. The candidate is expected to have programming experience with MATLAB, python, shell scripting, and UNIX/LINUX environments. Familiarity working within a high-performance computing environment is ideal.
