The post-holder will work under the direction of the Precision Medicine Centre of Excellence's (PMC) Bioinformatics lead and collaborate closely with the Scientific and Clinical leads. The primary responsibilities will be to develop, validate and maintain data analysis pipelines and algorithms that enable the comprehensive analysis of genomic information derived from cancer specimens, within the context of clinical studies.

The PMC is an ISO 15189:2012 accredited medical laboratory (Ref 20634), providing an integrated cancer diagnostic and clinical research service that combines high throughput genomics and digital pathology (www.qub.ac.uk/research-centres/PMC).

Major duties:


	To develop and maintain pipelines for the processing and analysis of data generated from next generation sequencing (NGS) platforms, calling of clinically relevant genomic alterations.
	To implement, validate and integrate software tools as part of an analysis pipeline.
	To perform routine quality control tasks (quality check of data, code review, software validation), data checking/cleaning and taking remedial action when required.
	To support end-users on technical issues relating to in-house analysis workflows and analytical procedures.
	To provide analytical expertise for genomic data analyses.


About the person:

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following criteria:


	Hold or be about to obtain* a PhD in Computational biology, Bioinformatics, computing science or related subjects. (*must be obtained within 3 months of the closing date for the post) or MSc equivalent with at least 3 years’ work experience in a relevant role.
	Significant relevant research experience in genomics or work experience in a relevant technical/scientific role.
	Significant experience in managing and analysing NGS data and other big data.
	Experience in developing and maintaining analysis pipelines.
	Experience working with Linux/UNIX environments.
	Proficiency with python, bash, R and/or equivalent languages.

You will lead and manage the design, development, and testing of RF, microwave and millimetre-wave systems within the Centre for Wireless Innovation (CWI).

You will be responsible for:


	Designing, developing, and testing wireless systems, including embedded wireless devices and software defined radios.
	Delivering RF, microwave, and millimetre-wave related research projects.
	Working with software development tools and wireless network simulators.
	Developing bespoke software for the control of measurement equipment and operation of wireless testbeds.
	Playing a major role in the implementation of the CWI research strategy.

	A 2:1 Honors Degree or equivalent in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics.- A PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics majoring in wireless communications.

		Significant postgraduate research experience in wireless communications, embedded wireless, microwave, ormillimetre-wave technology or engineering (minimum of 2 years post PhD).
		An established reputation in research in wireless communications, propagation simulation, and channelmeasurements as evidenced by publication record in invited/peer-reviewed journals/presentations that are REF returnable.
		Knowledge and experience of working with embedded wireless devices, microwave measurement equipment.

Governance, Legal and Risk (GLR) provides governance, legal, policy, compliance, insurance and risk management support to the University and its staff. About the Role 

As the Corporate Lawyer, Intellectual Property and Commercialisation you will play a pivotal role in supporting the University’s research and commercialisation activities. Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, you will advise researchers, contract officers, commercialisation specialists and senior executives on a broad range of legal issues, including strategic partnerships, joint ventures, collaborations, corporate governance, intellectual property, grant funding arrangements, internal policy, regulatory matters, dispute resolution and litigation. 

The role  is predominately focused on supporting the University’s research ambitions, but also offers opportunities to work on a diverse range of matters in other areas supported by GLR, ensuring continuous professional growth and variety in your work.

About You 

We are looking for a passionate and experienced lawyer with  an unrestricted practicing certificate and several years post admission experience in the provision of legal services in private practice or an in-house setting. You should have a strong background in providing complex legal advice and will be able to operate independently with minimal oversight and as part of a team. The position suits a commercial or intellectual property lawyer who can apply their broad experience to new situations and deal with uncertainty in an agile environment.

Some of the key position capabilities include:


	Extensive experience in provision of complex intellectual property, corporate governance, general commercial and regulatory advice
	Demonstrated high-level ability to provide comprehensive legal analysis and advice on complex legal concepts to non-legal clients and stakeholders.
	High-level legal and analytical skills and experience in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts.
	High-level ability to resolve issues independently, propose solutions by using initiative and work as part of a team.
	High degree of initiative and judgement in interpreting contractual documentation and legal principles and policies and procedures.
	Experience working in a large or complex organisation (desirable)

About the opportunity

The Manager, Faculty Media and Public Relations will manage the development and implementation of media and public relations/communication strategies for University faculties, and which support strategic priorities and increase the University's profile and brand position, nationally and internationally. This role is responsible for the faculty communication strategies and must have a keen sense of what is newsworthy and understand the media landscape and news cycles.

Your key responsibilities will be to:


	manage Media Advises working in discipline specific teams, and prioritise workload in alignment with faculty and PSU objectives
	develop and support agreed media and public relations strategies to promote faculty research, initiatives and programs, and raise the public profile of individual faculties
	develop, write and promote stories and cross-channel content across the complete range of faculty research, teaching and community engagement activities
	provide media advice and public relations support to Deans and senior academic staff involved in engagement activities
	maintain key internal and external stakeholder relationships.


About you


	extensive experience in media relations, with experience managing integrated media and/or public relations campaigns
	extensive experience in managing teams and supervising staff
	sound knowledge of media operations with contacts across print, radio, television and online; with experience liaising with and pitching to the media to obtain coverage
	high level analytical and conceptual skills to deliver solutions to complex strategic and business issues
	highly developed relationship management skills, with experience in issues management and a proven ability to provide advice to senior management on risks and solutions.

The role

An exciting opportunity for an Associate Lecturer Paramedic Science. You will have the opportunity to work closely with Paramedic Science students to bring your practical and teaching expertise There will be lots of interaction with your students with around 1 day a week of teaching, alongside administrative tasks to support the delivery of the programme. This role is flexible offering up to 200 hours per year.

About you

We are looking for people who are passionate about teaching and seeking an opportunity to work closely with the next generation of Paramedics. You will have a professional registration as a Paramedic with the HCPC. We will consider both qualified teachers and those who do not hold a formal teaching qualification but can demonstrate a commitment to teaching and supporting students.
