Augustana College is a private liberal arts university affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The university was thought to have been established in 1860.

It is located in Sioux Falls in South Dakota, USA and is the largest private university in the state. The university's campus is a beautiful, tree-lined campus situated on 100 acres in a residential area.

The university offers 53 majors, 34 minors and 15 pre-professional programmes. The top five most popular majors are nursing, biology, business administration, elementary education and psychology.

The university also has an extensive internship, study abroad and undergraduate research programme. Civitas is the university's honour's programme and it encourages students to explore what citizenship means on the Augustana campus, the US and the world through small, innovative classes.

There are about 100 student-led clubs and organisations that students can get involved with including student government, volunteer service clubs, honour societies and faith organisations. The Recreational Services programmes offers fun, health-promoting, physical activities which aim to promote wellness among the student body. Activities include basketball, late night activities and events, swimming lessons, rugby, ultimate frisbee, volleyball and outdoor trips and experiences.

There are many traditions at the college. One of which is to decorate the statue of Ole the Viking in the centre of the Quadrangle for special seasonal events. Another is to hold frisbee, bonfires or other student activities on The Green, which is a large expanse of green space on the campus.

Students that play on the Augustana sports teams are known as the Vikings.

The student body is made up of students from 29 states and 36 different countries.
