About the Role

The Senior Lecturer will play a pivotal role in advancing the quality of teaching and learning across the diverse range of medical school courses within the College of Medicine and Public Health. This position involves making a substantial contribution to the leadership of educational initiatives and the scholarship of teaching, leveraging innovative practices and technologies to enhance the learning experience.

The successful candidate will utilise their extensive experience in clinical practice to forge meaningful industry partnerships that facilitate work-integrated learning. They will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative placement models, ensuring high-quality educational experiences through clinical skills training, simulation, and service provision.

In addition to these responsibilities, the Senior Lecturer will be a key leader in service to the College and the broader University community, promoting excellence in education and collaboration.

About You

Summary of the key capabilities.


	Currently registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
	Relevant and extensive contemporary clinical experience in General Practice including holding a Fellowship from the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM)
	Significant and sustained evidence of development, delivery and evaluation of innovative teaching and learning strategies both in the classroom and in clinical education
	Demonstrated willingness and ability to contribute to scholarship in teaching through participation in teaching and learning strategies and in professional development in higher education teaching
	Evidence of excellence in medical teaching performance, inclusive of simulation and/or clinical setting
	Strong understanding of the nexus between teaching and learning, research and scholarship.

ABOUT XJTLU

In 2006 Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) was created by the University of Liverpool and Xi’an Jiaotong University – a top ten university in China. Offering a unique international education experience, XJTLU brings together excellent research practice and expertise from both institutions and gives students the skills and knowledge they need to secure careers in a global marketplace. International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University is growing in size and influence in pursuit of its vision to be a leading international business school. RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATION

XJTLU is a research-led university and correspondingly, International Business School Suzhou is a research-led business school. In this context, even though the workload of faculty in IBSS is generally shared between teaching, research, and service, Professors are expected to greatly contribute to the research activity of the School. Research activities include the publication of research articles, attendance of international conferences, and applications for research funding. Research performance in the School is benchmarked on internationally recognized lists of journal quality such as the Academic Journal Guide (UK) – a.k.a. the ABS list – and the ABDC list (AUS). The target levels on those lists are ABS3/ABDC: A or above.

In addition, Professors are also expected to hold leadership roles (service) with the Department, School, or the University, using their experience and expertise to represent the Economics Department and the Business School.

In terms of teaching, all faculty within the Department are required to teach and Professors should be willing and able to teaching at all levels, including undergraduate, masters, PhD, and executive education.

Essential Qualifications/Experience

Successful applicants to the position of Assistant/Associate Professor are expected to have:


	A PhD degree in Economics or a related field,
	Teaching experience in higher education,
	A proven record of academic publications in good journals, or alternatively, for early-career academics, a strong pipeline of promising research.


Successful applicants to more senior professorial ranks, like senior associate professor/ full professor are expected to also show:


	A significant record of high-quality academic publications,
	A number of external research grants awards,
	Experience in PhD supervision.

About the position

The School of Education has a long and distinctive history of progressive and socially engaged teaching and research in education. The School provides for the professional preparation of teachers and educators in early childhood, primary, secondary, community, outdoor and higher education.

This position is responsible for the provision of high-level administrative support for the partnership portfolios, including the Nexus program. The role involves initiating, executing and completing various projects and activities that  support the implementation of the School of Education’s strategic and business plans. This position will offer executive support to the Associate Dean Partnerships, assisting with a range of administrative activities needed to achieve objectives within their portfolio.

The position holder may be required to undertake travel to other La Trobe University campuses.

At present, the SMO department has a strong team of 36 academic staff and 8 PhD students, publishing in top journals, such as Human Resource Management, Management International Review, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Business Research, R&D Management, Journal of Organizational Behaviour, Journal of Vocational Behaviour, Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology and among others. RESPONSIBILITIES

Applications are invited to teach Strategy/IB/CSR, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, HRM, and Sustainable Development at IBSS of XJTLU. Although XJTLU is a research-led university, the workload of teaching track faculty in IBSS is generally shared between teaching, professional/pedagogical development, and service,

The successful candidate will be expected to deliver lectures and tutorials across all years of the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes; to supervise undergraduate’s FYP and master’s dissertation.

	A minimum of Master’s degree in a related field,

ABOUT SCHOOL OF MATHEMATICS AND PHYSICS

Consisting of five departments including the Department of Foundational Mathematics, the Department of Applied Mathematics, the Department of Pure Mathematics, the Department of Physics, and the Department of Financial and Actuarial Mathematics, and aims to develop cutting-edge solutions to challenging problems through world-class research and innovation, the School of Mathematics and Physics is a research-led academic unit. The Department of Pure Mathematics is committed to excellence in research and teaching at XJTLU. Reporting to the dean of the School of Mathematics and Physics, the Head of Department of Pure Mathematics will be responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and operations of the department, as well as managing the department's staff and resources. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pure mathematics fields, as well as experience managing teams and developing effective strategies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership


	To ensure the vision for the school is clearly articulated, shared, understood, and acted upon effectively by department members.
	To lead the departmental strategic planning process to ensure the department is well-resourced. The Departmental Strategy is the fundamental guideline for the operation and development of the department. The University has a system of rolling three-year plans to identify annual operational objectives and resource planning.
	To work with the Dean and Deputy Deans for Learning and Teaching of their School to ensure that teaching programmes maximise the market opportunity for presenting their discipline or field of study.
	To ensure that the content of modules is up to date; and that new advances in teaching technology and academic discussions are accommodated, constantly reflecting on one’s lessons and amending schemes of learning, lesson plans and teaching/learning materials.
	To oversee the department's research directions and performance – collectively and individually.
	To oversee the development of the Department’s external engagement. Such outreach activities aim to help the department integrate into the University and appeal to the broader community. Outreach includes areas such as engagement with other departments within the University and external organisations.


Administration


	Be responsible for the organization and administration of the department.
	Be responsible to the University for implementing all its academic and operational policies, rules, and regulations. Of particular importance in this regard is the conduct of examinations and marking and moderation regimes; implementation of the staff attendance and absence policy; observance of the staff code of conduct; observance of quality assurance processes and procedures.
	To chair department meetings focusing on learning and teaching and research, ensuring a detailed agenda and minutes are produced and distributed in a timely manner.
	To provide regular progress updates to the school management team to ensure they are fully aware of all subject areas' successes, issues, and concerns.
	The HoD is directly responsible within the Department for duties including:
	
		Strategic and annual planning
		Individual staff work allocation to allow for an appropriate work/life balance
		Budget development and expenditure
		Financial approvals for expenditure from the departmental budget
		Ensuring quality and standards are upheld
		Staff appointments; identifying needs, defining the specification and justification, organizing recruitment, overseeing interview panel arrangements, and recommending appointments.
		Formal staff Professional Development Reviews and
		processes Staff disciplinary issues
		Student disciplinary issues and complaints
		Assignments of administrative duties to other staff
		Implementation of staff attendance and absence policy
		Leave of absence approvals
		Dissemination of information regarding the development of the University, especially changes to policy, university regulations, and issues discussed at the Academic Leadership Group.
		Maintenance of record of staff authorised and unauthorised absences
		Ensuring that the requirements of PRC legislation and XJTLU regulation on Health and Safety are all met.
	
	


QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCES

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:


	Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people;
	A passion for teaching and research and a commitment to academic excellence;
	An ability to think strategically and develop and implement plans to achieve goals;
	A willingness to work collaboratively with other departments and stakeholders within the School and the
	University.

	A PhD in Pure Mathematics or a related field;
	At least three years of experience in research and teaching, with a proven track record of academic excellence and leadership;
	Experience managing and leading a team of faculty and staff;
	Experience working with industry partners and stakeholders, and a commitment to promoting industry engagement and innovation.


RESEARCH FUNDING SUPPORT

The university provides every new faculty members with Research Development Fund to encourage them to initiate research projects, and Research Engagement Fund provided to support their continuous research activities.

The university will also support all faculty members to apply for national, province and city level programs. These programs aim to support excellent scientists, both Chinese and non-Chinese-citizen, to work and carry out research in China.
