Office of Indigenous Strategy and Engagement 

The Office of Indigenous Strategy and Engagement provides strategic leadership to the university with a vision for Equal engagement and participation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in higher education through the recognition of, and respect for, Indigenous peoples, knowledge, and culture. Our mission is to increase the recognition of Indigenous knowledges and perspectives, the promotion of teaching and research in Indigenous studies, the employment of Indigenous staff, increasing the participation of, and opportunities for, Indigenous students and engagement with Indigenous communities and issues.

About the Role

Flinders University is seeking an Indigenous Community Partnerships and Pathways Coordinator to join their team within the Office of Indigenous Strategy and Engagement.

The Indigenous Community Partnerships and Pathways Coordinator (ICPPC) will work to raise the profile of the University to prospective Indigenous students by facilitating partnerships with Indigenous community organisations, schools and educational programs. The successful candidate will manage a small team of staff, coordinate partnerships with pathways stakeholders, contribute to the development of an Indigenous Recruitment Strategy, and develop an annual calendar of recruitment activities and events that promote access to Flinders University pathways.

The successful candidate will also:


	Act as a key liaison point and subject matter expert regarding pathways into Flinders University including the Indigenous Admission Scheme, scholarship and accommodation.
	Foster sustainable relationships with an extensive network of internal and external stakeholders.
	Evaluate and analyse key statistics on applications and enrolments of students in order to provide input into recruitment strategies and activities.

Description

The Cyber Security & Privacy lab (CSP-laboratory) of Dr. Christina Pöpper seeks to recruit a post-doctoral or research associate to work on cyber security and privacy research of existing and emerging networks and communication systems, with a possible starting date in January 2025 (or later). The group’s research builds upon the areas of system, network, information, and computer security. Candidates need to be skilled and comfortable with experimental work in cyber security. Although a postdoctoral/research associate candidate will be preferred, this position may also be filled by a research assistant in well justified cases.

The CSP-laboratory conducts cutting-edge research in communication, network, cyber, and system security and privacy, in particular on


	Security and privacy in mobile telephony networks (5G, 6G, ORAN), satellite-based and airborne communication, or other wireless systems or networks
	AI, LLM and ML security, privacy and trustworthiness
	 Anonymous or privacy-preserving communication


The ideal candidate is self-motivated and can work independently, has a passion for security and privacy topics in different application contexts, and is willing to learn new technologies. The candidate should have a PhD or MSc in Computer Science or a closely related field (BSc holders will be considered in justified cases). Relevant background and skills include:


	Experimental experience with software radios, 5G user equipment, VPNs, Tor, or other hard- and software relevant to the described systems an networks
	Up-to-date software development and machine learning skills, incl. work with ML libraries, multimodal AI models, etc.
	Exposure to security and privacy research work
	Excellent written and verbal communication skills
	Track record of research with publications in top-tier conferences


The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join ongoing international collaborations as well as collaborations within the Center for Cyber Security at New York University Abu Dhabi.

Applicants for the postdoctoral position must have a PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cyber Security or closely related fields. Applicants for the research associate position must have a MSc or BSc degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cyber Security or closely related field. Excellent experimental skills are required.

The role

To research and develop software modules, tools and API for a project that aims to create a secure decentralised data marketplace based on distributed ledger technology, web technologies and AI.

The role will focus on developing solutions to address barriers to information and data exchange such as data quality and interoperability, and efficient processing and management of time-series datasets and metadata originating from IoT sources (such as environment sensors and meters) closer to the data provider at the edge, rather than the cloud, which will require innovation in compute efficiency and scalability. 

The role will also focus on IoT data engineering, analysis and management, improve data quality through data and machine learning processing pipelines. It will also focus on developing AI algorithms for semantically enriching data assets with domain knowledge, which feed into building knowledge graphs, search and discovery mechanisms.

The outputs will be integrated and validated against a set of real-world IoT use cases.

About you

A talent for technical problem solving is a must. You will encounter a wide range of technologies and data and will be given many opportunities to develop further your skills.

You will be responsible in contributing to iterative deliverables for the project such as technical reports, software integrations and source code releases. You will also be expected to travel abroad for project meetings and dissemination events. This is a collaborative project and will require you to actively liaise with other organisations.

	A PhD in Computer Science or Engineering (other closely related area) or and MSc with experience. 
	Experience with programming in Python, Java, or JavaScript in the context of data and metadata management and analysis for web-based solutions.
	Experience in Data engineering, analysis and management workflows for times-series (tabular, structured) data.
	Experience in developing workflows for metadata management, which can involve schema modelling, formatting, annotation, enrichment, search and discovery.
	Experience in Machine Learning model development/optimisation and workflows for time-series (tabular, structured) data, and for (generative) metadata enrichment.
	Experience with tools for source code management, automation pipelines for software development and machine learning processes, and deployment.
	Experience with virtualisation tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
	Experience in technical and report writing for software-based projects.
	Strong critical thinking skills and ability to develop innovative solutions.
	Ability to communicate effectively and work efficiently within a research and development team. 
	Ability to take initiative, learn how to use the necessary tools for the research, and work independently, and collaboratively for integration tasks.


 Desirable


	An PhD in Computer Science or Engineering.
	Contributions to peer-reviewed publications, or other similar output.
	Experience with developing tools for linked or graph-based data.

Applications are invited for a Research Fellow to join Dr Lindsay Broadbent’s group in the Section of Virology, School of Biosciences, University of Surrey.

The role

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a collaborative translational research project exploring the association of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection and the development of childhood asthma. The successful candidate will use complex respiratory epithelial cell models grown and differentiated at air-liquid interface to explore virus-host interactions and subsequent innate immune responses and signalling pathways.

We are therefore looking for a highly motivated individual with or about to obtain a PhD in a biological science related subject, and proven ability in cell biology and virus research. A background in culturing primary cells and/or organoid systems, virology, innate immunology and transcriptomics would also be highly beneficial.

Our well-equipped laboratory is located in the School of Biosciences at the beautiful campus of the University of Surrey, close to London. The dynamic and growing Section of Virology is comprised of five research groups focused on the molecular and cellular basis of disease caused by a range of important human and animal pathogens including herpesviruses, poxviruses, SARS-CoV2, RSV and arboviruses.

The University of Southampton is inviting applications for a Research Fellow/ Senior Research Assistant in the area of homelessness and psychology. The successful candidate will join the Centre for Homelessness Research and Practice, located in the School of Psychology.

The Centre for Homelessness Research and Practice knits together research, education, training, and practice. It hosts a regional community of practice across the South East of England, as well as working with national and international partners. The Centre engages in policy engagement, addressing the complexity of homelessness by considering the interaction of individual and systemic factors. 

The successful applicant will undertake research in evaluating the effectiveness/impact of a large project aiming to increase psychological knowledge and expertise within the homelessness sector under the supervision of the award holder, and contribute administrative tasks related to the setting up of an community of practice subgroup focused on climate change and homelessness, as well as undertaking leadership, management and engagement activities.

The ideal candidate will have a track record in at least one of the following research areas: 

Developing and carrying out service evaluations

Homelessness and marginalised populations

Carrying out administrative tasks associated with specific research funding

Developing a community of practice

Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.

This post is part time 10.5 hours per week and for a fixed term contract until 31/03/2026
