The ideal candidate's pedagogy will be informed by both a broad knowledge of ceramics and sculptural practice (which could include installation, environmental art, new media, and/or social practice). The successful candidate will also have expertise in the management of the ceramic studio and woodshop. At St. Edward's University the standard teaching load for tenure-track faculty is a 4/4, however, the faculty member will have one course reassignment annually for the first three years for creative research, with the potential for renewal. In addition, experience engaging with a diverse student body is essential-candidates should be able to demonstrate their capacity for empathy, ability to meet students where they are, and willingness to approach the classroom environment with generosity and care. Candidates with an educational philosophy consistent with a liberal arts education, a commitment to undergraduate teaching, and an ability to work in a collaborative and cooperative environment with a diverse faculty are preferred. Previous teaching experience at the collegiate level of at least three or more years.  A portfolio of creative work that demonstrates a strong technical and theoretical foundation in their practice and teaching. An active record of creative research. A strong portfolio of student work and sample syllabi from classes they have taught. Experience with a wide range of modeling and fabrication techniques which may include: clay, wood, metal, plastics and found objects; mold making; and familiarity with digital technology and new media. Experience in ceramic studio and woodshop management (ex. firing and care of kilns, oversight of other equipment in the clay and woodshop areas, understanding of glaze use and storage, etc.).  Knowledge of environmental and safety policies related to the discipline. Successful completion of an employment and/or criminal history background check.  Essential Responsibilities Include: Ability to teach undergraduate ceramic and sculpture students applied lessons at all levels. Responsible for studio maintenance and supervision of the ceramics/woodshop facilities. Work closely with faculty and staff on the maintenance of classrooms and purchasing. Work with VISU faculty and the Environmental, Health, &amp; Safety Coordinator maintain safety procedures and policies for classrooms and equipment. Mentor work study students to work in the woodshop and clay studio. Serve as academic advisor and creative mentor to a diverse body of students. Contribute to curriculum development and program assessment efforts. Participate actively in university and department committees, as needed. Demonstrate continuous professional development efforts throughout the academic year. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Ability to interact effectively and professionally with the general public. Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks. Ability to work under stress and with pressing timelines. We are seeking to recruit a qualified Counsellor, Psychotherapist or Counselling Psychologist (BACP, UKCP or BPS registered, or eligible for such) to join our established multidisciplinary team working with students with wide ranging and sometimes complex issues. The role is offered on a part time, 3-day-a-week basis, for a 0.6 Full time Equivalent.

About 70% of our sessions are ‘One at a Time’, and we also support students with brief counselling contracts, and sometimes over the longer term, both face to face and via video. Some counsellors also offer phone, email and IM counselling, but this is optional.

The Division of Science at New York University Abu Dhabi, UAE is inviting applications for a Post-Doctoral Associate position in the areas of Protein Biochemistry and Enzymology. The candidate will work under the supervision of Prof. Wael Rabeh (https://www.rabehlab.com/) on the study of enzymes’ structures and functions in the area of cancer metabolism and viral infectious diseases. Applicants must have a strong background in protein biochemistry including experience in protein expression and purification. The lab is well equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for spectroscopy, thermodynamic and kinetic characterization of proteins’ thermal and chemical unfolding, and mass-spectroscopy for studying protein dynamics.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in biochemistry or a related field of study. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview. Experience in mass spectroscopy or enzymology is desirable. Priority given to candidates with a background in the following areas of expertise:

Protein expression and purification (essential): The candidate must have prior hands-on experience in protein expression in E. coli or other cell lines and purification using affinity and size exclusion chromatography. Experience using FPLC in protein purification is a plus.

Experience in any of the following areas is a plus:


	Enzymology: mechanistic characterization of enzymes using initial velocity and enzyme inhibition kinetics.
	Hydrogen/deuterium exchange (HDX) mass spectrometry (MS) application in the study of enzyme dynamics and protein structural characterization.
	Spectroscopy including UV-Vis, fluorescence and circular dichroism spectroscopy.
	Calorimetry including differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC).


The appointment is for a one-year, renewable term, starting on August 1st, 2024. The employment terms are competitive and include a tax-free salary plus housing and educational subsidies and health and dental insurance for the Postdoctoral Associate and their dependents.
