At St. Edward's University the standard teaching load for tenure-track faculty is a 4/4, however, the faculty member will have one course reassignment annually for the first three years for creative research, with the potential for renewal. Previous teaching experience at the collegiate level of at least three or more years.  A portfolio of creative work that demonstrates a strong technical and theoretical foundation in their practice and teaching. An active record of creative research. A strong portfolio of student work and sample syllabi from classes they have taught. Experience with a wide range of modeling and fabrication techniques which may include: clay, wood, metal, plastics and found objects; mold making; and familiarity with digital technology and new media. Experience in ceramic studio and woodshop management (ex. firing and care of kilns, oversight of other equipment in the clay and woodshop areas, understanding of glaze use and storage, etc.).  Knowledge of environmental and safety policies related to the discipline. Successful completion of an employment and/or criminal history background check.  Essential Responsibilities Include: Ability to teach undergraduate ceramic and sculpture students applied lessons at all levels. Responsible for studio maintenance and supervision of the ceramics/woodshop facilities. Work closely with faculty and staff on the maintenance of classrooms and purchasing. Work with VISU faculty and the Environmental, Health, &amp; Safety Coordinator maintain safety procedures and policies for classrooms and equipment. Mentor work study students to work in the woodshop and clay studio. Serve as academic advisor and creative mentor to a diverse body of students. Contribute to curriculum development and program assessment efforts. Participate actively in university and department committees, as needed. Demonstrate continuous professional development efforts throughout the academic year. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. To research and develop software modules, tools and API for a project that aims to create a secure decentralised data marketplace based on distributed ledger technology, web technologies and AI.

The role will focus on developing solutions to address barriers to information and data exchange such as data quality and interoperability, and efficient processing and management of time-series datasets and metadata originating from IoT sources (such as environment sensors and meters) closer to the data provider at the edge, rather than the cloud, which will require innovation in compute efficiency and scalability. 

The role will also focus on IoT data engineering, analysis and management, improve data quality through data and machine learning processing pipelines. It will also focus on developing AI algorithms for semantically enriching data assets with domain knowledge, which feed into building knowledge graphs, search and discovery mechanisms.

The outputs will be integrated and validated against a set of real-world IoT use cases.

About you

A talent for technical problem solving is a must. You will encounter a wide range of technologies and data and will be given many opportunities to develop further your skills.

You will be responsible in contributing to iterative deliverables for the project such as technical reports, software integrations and source code releases. You will also be expected to travel abroad for project meetings and dissemination events. This is a collaborative project and will require you to actively liaise with other organisations.

	A PhD in Computer Science or Engineering (other closely related area) or and MSc with experience. 
	Experience with programming in Python, Java, or JavaScript in the context of data and metadata management and analysis for web-based solutions.

Job Description


University of Surrey

The Infectious Disease and Epidemiology Research group in the School of Clinical and Experimental Sciences wish to appoint two Research Facilitators to help support the technical aspects of research activities and to assist with the day to day running of research studies undertaken by the group. The research group is based within the Faculty of Medicine at Southampton General Hospital.

Our group is undertaking a number of projects looking at the epidemiology of respiratory pathogens. Applications are invited from those with relevant experience of laboratory based microbiology and experience of research governance. Experience of bacterial identification is desirable. These posts are full-time but consideration will be given to those who wish to work part-time. Applicants must be available to work with some flexibility.
