Description

The Laboratory of Applied Nonlinear Dynamics (L.A.N.D) within the Division of Engineering at New York University, Abu Dhabi is seeking to appoint one Post-Doctoral Associate starting September 2024. The successful candidate must have previous research experience (computational and experimental) in the broad area of Nonlinear Mechanics.

Applicants must have received a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, or any closely-related field. Excellent communication skills in English, the ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams, and scientific creativity are essential.

About the Role

Working on site in Adelaide, South Australia, this full-time role will work within UniSA Online to support the development and delivery of curriculum for the online Bachelor of Psychology program.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with expertise and passion in teaching psychology, which will include contributing to the design, development and teaching of engaging course curricula and materials for the program. The role will include implementing teaching approaches that maximise the student experience and learning outcomes and will also contribute to the recruitment and development of online tutoring staff within UniSA Online.

We are currently recruiting for an Online Lecturer to teach first, second and third-year courses into the Bachelor of Psychology degree program. We are looking for candidates to have expertise in teaching statistics and research methodologies as well as in a range of discipline specific courses in psychology. In addition, candidates will have experiences in managing diverse student cohorts along with competing demands.    

The Bachelor of Psychology is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) and as a result, applicants must fulfil APAC teaching requirements.

Critical to the success of the role will be establishing strong partnerships with stakeholders across the University to ensure that UniSA Online identifies and responds to strategic opportunities, and effectively leading and mentoring academic staff within the teaching team.

* This role does not have the capacity to work remotely, the successful candidate must reside in Adelaide, South Australia.

The School of Data Science (SDS) is committed to becoming the premier incubator for data innovation in Asia. Our mission is to nurture leading data scientists through an interdisciplinary curriculum that fosters ethical, critical and strategic thinking. The SDS comprises two divisions: the Division of Artificial Intelligence and the Division of Industrial Data Science, as well as the LEO Dr David P. Chan Institute of Data Science.

The LEO Dr. David P. Chan Institute of Data Science (https://www.ln.edu.hk/sds/leodcids/home) aims to (i) provide education service; (ii) empower researchers; (iii) cultivate new collaborations, and (iv) perform academic research in some selected areas of data science.

The appointee will join the LEO Dr. David P. Chan Institute of Data Science and will be expected to:


	carry out research and submit papers to top journals in the field of large vision models or large language models. Additionally, the appointee will be responsible for submitting grant proposals to various funding bodies. Furthermore, the appointee will have the opportunity to organize conferences, seminars, reading groups, workshops, and other related research activities;
	play a central role in the daily operation of the upcoming new Taught Postgraduate programme(s) offered by the Division of Artificial Intelligence/ LEO Dr. David P. Chan Institute of Data Science. The teaching load will be two courses per year, distributed according to the needs of the Institute and upon mutual agreement. English will be the medium of instruction. The appointee will also be required to supervise students’ projects or thesis; and
	perform administrative duties as assigned by the Director of the LEO Dr. David P. Chan Institute of Data Science.


General Requirements

Candidates should have (i) a PhD degree in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant discipline; (ii) a good command of both English and Chinese; (iii) a strong publication record in the top-tier journals/conferences in the relevant field; and (iv) experience in developing external competitive research proposals. Candidates with a good teaching record will be an advantage.

Appointment

The conditions of appointment will be competitive. The rank and remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity and incoming passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointee. Appointment will normally be made on a fixed-term contract of up to two years.

Lingnan University

We are seeking to recruit a qualified Counsellor, Psychotherapist or Counselling Psychologist (BACP, UKCP or BPS registered, or eligible for such) to join our established multidisciplinary team working with students with wide ranging and sometimes complex issues. The role is offered on a part time, 3-day-a-week basis, for a 0.6 Full time Equivalent.

About 70% of our sessions are ‘One at a Time’, and we also support students with brief counselling contracts, and sometimes over the longer term, both face to face and via video. Some counsellors also offer phone, email and IM counselling, but this is optional.

The Division of Science, Mathematics department at New York University Abu Dhabi is looking to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate to work with Weiren Zhao on subjects including (in no particular order):


	Free boundary problems in fluid systems.
	Stability/Instability of coherent structures in 2D/3D flows.
	Stability/Instability in geophysical fluids and plasma physics.
	Spectral theory for non-self-adjoint operators.


Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics (or be close to completing one).
