Abrar University is based in the Somali capital city of Mogadishu. It was established in 2014.
Its colleges of medicine, health science, veterinary medicine, agricultural science, economics and management science are located in the Hodan district. New courses introduced in recent years include food engineering and technology, information technology, nursing and midwifery and medical laboratory science.
The university offers career mentoring for students who offer one-to-one career support for students throughout their programme. Mentors will be either alumni, academic staff or other professionals relating to different career paths. There are also study and career counsellors who are available for students to discuss their studies or future plans.
The university also offers mental health counselling for all students.
The university has formed partnerships with the Federal University of Parana, Brazil, the University of Kent’s School of Bioscience, four Turkish universities, others in Egypt and Sudan, Egerton University in Kenya, and Jigjiga University, Ethiopia.
