Abbottabad University of Science and Technology was originally founded in 2008 as the Havelian Campus of Hazara University. In 2015 it was granted independent university status and became Abbottabad University of Science and Technology.
The university is located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, one of the four provinces of Pakistan.
There are four faculties within the university: faculty of health and biomedical sciences, faculty of humanities and social sciences, faculty of sciences, and the faculty of engineering and technology. Each faculty is divided into different departments, which offer a range of degree programmes at both undergraduate and graduate degree level.
The Office of Research Innovation and Commercialisation was established in 2015 and officially recognised by the Higher Education Commission in 2019. Its aim is to contribute to the development of national well-being, economic prosperity, and the expansion and dissemination of knowledge.
The university is home to the AUST Medical Centre, which was set up to provide health care to the local community. The centre also provides students with the opportunity to gain hands on practical experience outside the classroom.
