Times Higher Education (THE) has officially launched a dedicated resources platform for international school counsellors today to help them advise students on career and university selection.
THE Counsellor aims to amplify the voice of the international school counsellor community and was created by THE in partnership with Common Purpose, UCAS, Unifrog, UCL and Huron University.
The content and structure of THE Counsellor has been shaped by experienced school counsellors from THE’s International School’s Advisory Board, ensuring it is ‘for counsellors, by counsellors’.
Resources currently on THE Counsellor include articles, the majority of which have been written by counsellors from around the world, on career progression, dealing with challenging conversations, increasing students’ resilience and AI. A monthly newsletter for high school counsellors and senior leaders in international and bilingual schools is also available.
THE Counsellor supports THE’s Counsellor Accreditation Programme (THE CAP), a free online counsellor accredited course. It will also feature jobs and exclusive events for counsellors.
Catalina Powell, THE Counsellor’s global director, said:
“From the outset our primary objective has been to create an initiative with the ethos of ‘for counsellors, by counsellors’, and thanks to the incredible work by our team, partners and International Schools Advisory Board and, following overwhelmingly positive feedback, I feel proud to say we have achieved that.
“THE Counsellor is undisputedly the one-stop shop for any school counsellor to help them to provide the best possible advice to their students.”
THE Counsellor is part of THE’s three pillar strategy for school counsellors which also includes the Times Higher Education Counsellor Accreditation Programme (THE CAP) and the Regional International Schools Forum & Workshops. Work on THE Counsellor started at the beginning of the year and the founding partners were announced in May.
