Scots student reps oppose fees

The Scottish Liberal Democrats have made a curious choice of the issue of opposition to tuition fees as the centrepiece of their coalition negotiations. The Liberal Democratic Party is committed to realism in increasing resources for education, willing to put a penny on income tax to raise revenue for education. Yet the Scottish Liberals have made their top priority the abolition of tuition fees, which would reduce revenue and would benefit only the more affluent. As a Liberal Democrat, I must concede that Labour has a more convincing case on tuition fees.
