Douglas Trainer, president of the National Union of Students Scotland, has condemned the CBE awarded to Ronald Harrison, chief executive of the Student Loans Company, as "a sleazy insult." Mr Trainer called for an independent review of the scheme and the company itself, which he said was under intense scrutiny from media and parliament alike.
