Representatives of UK institutions can support prospective students seeking a world-class study experience abroad
International students who study in the UK will find universities with global impact, courses focused on industry needs and valuable cross-cultural learning and social experiences.
At the UK THE Student Festival, AHZ Associates held a session outlining the benefits of UK study for international students. AHZ Associates is a leading university representative that supports international students access the higher education system in the UK. The company has offices in 16 countries and serves 250,000 students.
Golam Mortuza, director at AHZ Associates, said the company aims to be “a bridge” between students and universities. Mortuza said AHZ had a 99.6 per cent visa success rate and offered end-to-end support, from the application process to helping students settle after arrival.
“There are a number of reasons people want to study in the UK. UK universities have global impact,” Mortuza said. “For example, you can see how much has been contributed during the Covid-19 pandemic from Oxford University and others. There’s a huge impact globally from British education and many UK universities maintain very high positions in world university rankings.”
With a growing focus on embedding “life skills” and work placements or internships within courses, Mortuza said UK universities helped mould job-ready graduates, while quality assurance bodies ensured outstanding teaching and graduate prospects.
“UK universities focus on industry needs,” Mortuza said. “The student completing the programme isn’t only getting a degree, they’re getting support to develop for their working life.”
Mortuza said about 400,000 international students came to the UK to study from all over the world, creating rich cultural diversity. International students would likely find ways to remain connected to their home culture, as well as gain crucial experience working with people from different backgrounds.
“You are learning diversity and cross-cultural experiences. You are learning how to behave and develop in that environment,” Mortuza said.
Whether students were planning to stay and work in the UK after graduation or return to their home country, Mortuza said studying in the UK would have a positive long-term impact.
“The skills you learn and the degree is a lifelong experience you will see benefits from,” he concluded.
