The University of Oxford has made two appointments. Marilyn Booth, Iraq professor of Arabic and Islamic studies at the University of Edinburgh, and Markus Bockmuehl, professor of Biblical and early Christian studies at Oxford, have been named to the Khalid bin Abdullah Al Saud professorship for the study of the contemporary Arab world and the Dean Ireland’s professorship of the exegesis of Holy Scripture, respectively.
Robert Parkin will take up the post of pro vice-chancellor (research and knowledge transfer) at the University of Bradford on 1 October.
Michele Lamb has been named head of the University of Roehampton’s department of social sciences.
Simon Jarvis will be the next deputy vice-chancellor of Regent’s University London, from 1 January 2015. He joins from the University of Greenwich.
Cranfield University has named Iain Gray director of aerospace. Currently chief executive of the Technology Strategy Board, he will take up his post at Cranfield in March 2015.
