The University of Chittagong was established in 1966 with only 200 students in its first cohort. It has since become a leading institution of higher education, providing students with a conducive environment for learning, research, and personal growth.
As its name suggests, the university is located in Chittagong, the second-largest city in Bangladesh. Home to the Port of Chittagong, the city is one of the busiest ports in the country and the Bay of Bengal.
The university is comprised of 10 faculties: Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Business Administration, Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Marine Sciences and Fisheries, and the Faculty of Medicine. Each faculty consists of different departments and institutes which offer a wide range of degree programmes at bachelor, masters, and doctoral level.
Outside the classroom, the university offers cultural events, extracurricular activities, and sports competitions.
