Muban Chombueng Rajabhat University was originally founded in 1954 as Chom Bueng Village College. In 1970 it became Chom Bueng Village Teachers College and started offering two-year courses in education and higher education. Eight years later, the college introduced another two year degree programme in Teacher Training. In 2004 the college was granted full university status and became Muban Chombueng Rajabhat University.
The university is officially recognised by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation of Thailand.
The university is located in Ratchaburi, a town in western Thailand. Ratchaburi is the region’s commercial and service centre and an important river port.
There are six faculties at the university: faculty of education, faculty of management science, faculty of science and technology, faculty of humanities and social sciences, faculty of industrial technology, and the faculty of Muay Thai studies. Within each faculty are a number of departments, which offer a range of undergraduate degree programmes.
There is also the graduate school, which provides students with the opportunity to continue their studies at master’s and doctoral level. When the school was first established in 1998 it offered just two graduate degree programmes: master of education programme and master of education administration. Since then, the school has introduced several more graduate courses such as master of arts, master of business administration, and doctor of philosophy.
